Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Peri had her annual exam yesterday afternoon. She has topped out at 24.6 pounds and is in "perfect" health. The vet and techs were completely OBSESSED! They obviously know her, but she hadn't been to our regular vet that sees Taquito as well since last year.

The vet tech started out by saying "she is the most well behaved doodle we have seen", then turned to Peri and said "you have a very good mama who obviously has taught you obedience". In fairness, Peri was being super good. She was just sitting next to me on the floor smiling as they pet her. I still said "well you don't see her at home when she gets a zoomie!".

Next Dr. does the exam. Says she is the most gorgeous dog, perfect health, great bones, great temperament, etc...then asked if my breeder was around and if she was reputable, did health testing,etc...her daughter is looking into goldendoodles.

Anyway, does anyone else ever think "What the Dood?" (WTD) when someone compliments your doodle? I know we all love ours (clearly!), but I am the first to admit Peri is not perfect and I always have more training to do. Even so, the entire event made me burst with pride! These doodles are just awesome :) On the same note, last week I was walking her and received the same remarks from two girls - they live next to a labradoodle that is "out of control". I found out the doodle was only 6 months, so I had to tell them that can be pretty typical and that Peri is over 1 1/2 now (where did time fly??) and I continually train her. I thought this was a fluke that someone thought she was so well behaved. Maybe she is?

Here is a picture of Peri waiting for the doc to come in. I thought this was too cute. She is saying "hey mom, please trim my eyes, I can't see!":

Way to go, Peri. Murphy is usually NOT on his best behavior at the vet's because that is where he goes to doggy day care. He is so focused on getting outside to play with his buddies that he forgets all of his manners....still....and he is 4 years old now. It's like when I use cheese as his training treat. He can't think...at all. CHEESEHEAD.
Murphy is such a big goofy klutz and he has a lot of accidents. One visit (ripped out dew claw), Dr. Chris was down on the floor with him, asking "Murph Man, what happened this time?" and he was licking her face.

What a sweet girl you are Peri. I think the vets just really love our Doodles and overall they are very well behaved. Gracie Doodle is a BIG girl and when she goes to the vet she has to put her paws up on the check in counter to say hi to every one. I have been going to the same vet for 20 years or more and the staff doesn't change much so everyone knows us. When we get into the examining room Gracie will give it quick sniff and then lay down and wait. When the doctor arrives she gets up to greet him. Because she is so big he does the exams on the floor. He just sits right down with Gracie and she begins to lick his face. Gracie loves to kiss so if people are not into that...then we have a huge problem!! She never gives them any problems during exams. She just stands there or lays there and lets them do what they need to do. Everyone loves Gracie Doodle. My husband keeps saying there should be a TV show...instead of "Everyone Loves Raymond" it should be "Everyone Loves Gracie Doodle"!!!

Peri what a good doodle rep you are. Quincy is also perfectly behaved at the vet and the techs are always happy to see him. On his last visit the vet said he wished all his patients were as good. Quincy just totally cooperated with his exam and didn't even flinch when he got his shot, of course the treat didn't hurt either. It's great to be proud doodle mom's isn't it. Now if I could only get him to stop stealing shoes, paper, dish towels, socks, underwear .....well you get the idea.

They are tricksters, that's what they are. Foolery. They are too smart for their own good.

Rosey & Bandit make a liar out of me all the time. When Rosey was in obedience training she did everything for the instructor on the 1st try and everyone in class was ooohhh, awwww how SMART your dog is!!! . But when I tried at home she wouldn't do any of it. WTD? is right:)
