We are planning to move from California to Hawaii in June. We were there for a two week vacation/business trip to determine if this would work out for us and the answer is decidedly, "Yes". 

My DD and I have chronic daily migraines. Hers are significantly worse than mine. For almost five years she has been unable to work or even live on her own due to daily excruciating pain. For some reason we both feel better in Hawaii. It just so happens that the company my DH works for has a Honolulu office and they have agreed to have him make the move. 

We lived in Hawaii in the 1980s when our kids were little and I loved it. My DH felt like the world was passing him by even though he loved the climate and activities. To which I asked, "And your point is???" 28 years later we are going back, and I am mostly thrilled. We have to leave our DS and his precious family behind. It will be extremely hard to do that. Those grandkids are a strong draw, but our suffering daughter needs a chance at a better quality of life. So now begins the work of getting our house ready to rent. Can you say P.U.R.G.E? Let the games begin. 

In the 80's dogs had to be quarantined for four months when moving to Hawaii. Mercifully, now that requirement is waived for dogs whose vaccines are up-to-date. I could not imagine putting my doodles in quarantine that long!

Bonnie, I know that you didn't make this decision without spending hours and hours in prayer. It's the right decision for your daughter AND for you. If she gets feeling better, you'll get feeling better. You are such a faith servant and God will be with you every step of the way!

I've got an idea...instead of a DK cruise for 2014, I think we go to HAWAII!! Perfect!

Wow...that was a quick decision!  But since you lived there before you know exactly what the life is over there.  The Doodles are going to love it.  I hope they have dog beaches!  I don't think we have any DKers in Hawaii!  You might just be the first!  Oh my, I hope there are Doodles over there for your babies to play with.  You can start recruiting new members to DK!  Congratuations and how exciting!

Oh man Bonnie!  I'm super jealous.  I would LOVE to live in Hawaii.  Clark prefers mountains, I prefer beaches and near constant warmth =)

Jenn, That's hilarious! I've shared this whole saga with you then left out the part that it is actually going to happen. I'm sorry. I can't keep straight who I have told what. Thank you for praying for us and for always cheering me up.

I am just seeing this now...you have been so busy asking me about me and talking about your trip. You didn't tell me....

I know how hard it is to leave your son, ddil, and grand babies ....I pray so hard this brings you both so much relief.......I love you, you are an Inspiration and I am so blessed to call you my good friend....you for sure are a gift from God..praying for healing from the horrible pain for both of you...xoxoxoxo
