Simba is nearing 11 months and has certainly developed into quite the character. The oohs and ahhhs and he's so cute have finally gone to his head! Or have they? Anyway, we were doing relatively well leaving for work until about a week ago (aside from some post-move hiccups)...
Incident 1: our dog walker arrived to find that Simba (we know Whopper doesn't do such things), had taken both the pen and notebook that our dog walker uses to leave us notes. They were nicely chewed but our dogwalker laughed as the notebook was still useable (just minus a few pages) and she figured she didn't come soon enough and he was mad so thought he'd leave a note.
Incident 2: Fast forward a couple days and our dog walker arrives to another surprise. It was a Monday which is the day I leave the weekly check for dogwalking services. The check was still on the counter but Simba had found the checkbook and ripped out a few checks. At this point we figured that he must have felt she deserved more or wanted us to buy him something.
Incident 3: Our dogwalker and I joked that we should be careful or at some point I may come home to find he decided to cook dinner. Well, last night I arrived home and fortunately dinner wasn't prepared. What I did find was a spare key chain that was definitely way back in the corner of our kitchen counter now on the floor right in front of the door. So while I tried to decipher why he chose the key chain...was he wanting to go out and knew the door must be locked, was he wanting to go for a ride, was he waiting for us to come home and drop our keys on the counter...Whopper walked up, sat right in front me, and smiled in a way only her mom could understand.
Simba steals my husbands dinner when he goes to get a bottle of water or takes granola bars out of my work bag when I walk away to brush my teeth. He is all about crimes of opportunity without much thought...Whopper is my thinker and literally works Simba into a barking frenzy with the mind games she plays. While I know that Simba is the culprit as he has demonstrated his antics and is super-canine when it comes to agility type acrobatics to get what he wants...
Simba is still my bad boy and Whopper is the brains behind his operations!

Well today the initial verdict was no damage...but then the truth was revealed. Today Simba decided having the tv on just wasn't enough. He wanted to play the Wii and proceeded to find the controller and eat the rubber grip off of it. This controller was put away with all of the rest and it's the only one he managed to find and grab.
I wrote this blog a few hours too soon. I got home tonight and the note from our dogwalker said he got a kitchen spoon and your grocery receipt...Too Funny!
I don't know what I'd do if our dogwalker didn't have such a great sense of humor about all of this.
