I hurt my leg last week and it's been a horrible week of pain and laying around with ice packs. Not a lot of ball throwing, walks, brushing or home cooking going on here. Normally I feel so bad when I don't have the time to play with my guys and they let me know they don't like it! Murphy usually brings all his balls, one by one and drops them at my feet. Then sits and stares at me till I get up. Bella usually goes from trash can to trash can finding little forbidden tidbits then prances in front of me, head held high with the object dangling out of her mouth singing "Catch me if you can!". Yes, she sings too.
But somehow they seem to know mom is down and out for the count and have been so calm and non- demanding. They have been playing contently among themselves, only asking to go out a few times a day, no balls piling up or trash cans being ransacked and both have been snugly and sweet laying near me on the bed or couch. They even seem to be watching TV with me which they never noticed before. Definitely being patient and I think they both deserve a big fresh marrow bone and a long walk as soon as I am up to it.

That sounds like a good plan for those good doodles.

Without a question of a doubt our babies can tell when we are down for the count... At least a good percentage of them can. Jack will be as patient as patient can be with me. I do a few hours of nebulized breathing treatments a day, he will sit on my lap the entire time and not move until I shut my machine off. He is amazing.

My dad and step mom are here from NJ to help out. They are walking Jack for me.. They actually are both runners and running with him, he runs with them and then literally bolts through the door with his leash on and sits by my side the rest of the day.

Still though when it is just us, he doesn't ask a thing of me when he knows I can't do it... Once in a while he will rbing me a toy to throw to him right before bed so he can get his energy out....

Our babies rule. Sorry about your leg. I hope you feel better soon and I am so glad your kiddos are giving you a break.
