I am taking a moment to brag about my daughter. She just returned safely from a trip to Muscat, Oman (borders Saudi Arabia). She was there for three weeks, traveled the entire way by herself, and had an incredible time. When she told us she was going to Oman, I have to admit I was so worried. She got her PhD in Special Education in July and wants to travel the world. She was able to combine both by taking a temporary position to help teachers in Oman set up an inclusive school. Within one week, she would write that she was going to dinner with friends and I would think, "Who does she know in Oman?"  Our daughter got to spend the last three days in Dubai, India, and went on a desert safari, rode a camel, and went to a huge mall that has a Downhill ski park, aquarium, and ice skating rink inside. I told her I would prefer to go on a dessert safari, but the mall sounded fantastic. We wanted to raise an independent daughter and I think we succeeded. Anyway, thanks for indulging me.

You certainly did raise an independent daughter, and you SHOULD be proud.  What an incredible experience for her....glad she had such an amazing trip and that she's back home safe and sound.

How very cool. I have some close friends that live near Dubai who are educators as well. They have lived there for 10+ years. While the culture is vastly different they have adapted and really enjoy their life there.

What a Wonderful experience for her! I don't blame you for worring but it looks like she did very well and made new friends. You have every right to be proud of her and to brag a little.
