Hi! I'm Adria. My husband is Dan. We both use this account, so apologies if we confuse you.
Dan and I just got our first dog, Sookie, an F1B apricot and cream labradoodle. We have been married for two years and live in Portland, Oregon. Sookie is named after Sookie Stackhouse, the main character of Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Mysteries. I am going to try to use this blog to chronicle our life starting with this 7 week old pile of cuteness, because I'm pretty sure my Facebook friends are getting sick of hearing about her.
We picked Sookie up at the breeders on Saturday morning. Our breeder is great and has been letting us visit her every Sunday since she was 2 weeks old. She didn't like the car ride at ALL but settled right in at home! We have two adult cats. Sookie really really wants to be friends, but they aren't so sure. However, they aren't hiding, so I'm taking that as a good sign.
Potty training has been going pretty well. She's already heading towards the door when she feels the urge, and as long as we're paying attention, it works like a charm! Night time has been a little rough -- we're crate training, so getting up every two hours leaves us pretty sleepy, but she's really good about taking care of business right away.
Sookie LOVES her
Skinnneeez skunk and this crazy
elephant toy I found at Ross. She is squeaking at a 4th grade level. We're very proud. Clearly brilliant.
Tonight we tried a little bit of obedience training, just to see what would happen. Lo and behold, she learned to sit in two tries, and now does it every time. Genius. I'm downloading her application for puppy MENSA right now.
Tomorrow she'll have her first alone time in the house, as I have to leave for an appointment while Dan is at work. I sort of think she won't even know we're gone while she snoozes in her crate, but it's making me nervous anyway.
It's so much fun to watch her learn things: climbing stairs, pottying outside, how to make the toy squeak, ice cubes are delicious, etc. Every time she gets a little quicker at it, and it's amazing to watch her little brain work.
Here's a little photo montage of Sookie from 2 weeks to now at 7 weeks.
