Spay day was yesterday and I think Phoebe did way better than I did. I was a nervous wreck waiting for the phone call that she was awake and resting. When I picked her up at night, she was groggier than I had anticipated and the incision was larger than I had thought it would be. She made it through the night beautifully but she seems so sad. While I undertand that this was a major surgery, I am dying to see her running and jumping around again--this whole thing is killing me. She is on pain medication but she does seem to have some pain as she 'winces' and jumps from time to time. Thankfully, we are being blessed with gorgeous weather so we do not have to deal with the cone and the rain--I cannot even imagine. I hope the next 9 days fly by (her 'reward' for this is a brand new fence that will be up just about the time she is able to run and play again!).

I hope Phoebe is feeling much better now that a couple of days of healing have passed. I wanted to send along a humorous get well picture. Hopefully it will bring a smile.

I 'm so glad it worked out fine for Phoebe! It took few day for me to feel fine about Charlie's spay, too.
A tank top on Charlie worked well for me to keep her from bothering the stitches.

The picture is the best! Maybe a girl's tee shirt for Phoebe. I don't think we are going to last with the cone either!

I got so fed up with the cone that I found another solution to stop Yankee from licking. See picture.

You are all very kind to respond and offer such much needed support. The cone is a huge issue and she bangs into me and her favorite spot...the brick adjoining the front porch--all the time. She practically knocks herself down with the force of the hit but does she avoid it? Nope--such a doodle! Tonight she almost gave me a heart attack as, while I was sitting on the floor next to her--and her cone head--petting her back, she jumped up and jumped onto the couch. We all screamed--including my husband which is a rarity--and then she jumped down. I turned her over to check her incision but all seems fine. My heart, however, was not. I suppose that must mean she is feeling a tad better but we placed her in her ex-pen to calm her down. I am sure the better the she feels the harder it will be to stop her from doing things like that--let the games begin! I love a challenge!

I hope she feels better real soon.

Well, I hope she is more herself tonight than she was yesterday! The cone is horrible. When I was able to keep an eye on Fozzy Bear, I kept the cone off. Basically just used it when he was alone or I was asleep. I hated him constantly banging into my calves with it! Honestly, he ran into me more than anything else! How is she doing with her UTI??? We missed you all at the Pitch 2 Pitch! BTW - thanks for the reminder!!! Your a doll!

the week will fly by and everyday you will see her getting better. They actually get used to the cone and it's kind of funny to watch them when they are feeling better. I'm saving mine for a halloween costume.
