Well we are at the conclusion of day two. Things have gone much better than I had anticipated. A few things have cropped up that were interesting.

The Walk – walk one started out a bit rough. Mylie is a puller! I needed to keep her on the gentle leader halter to handle her. I tried both on the same side, but that did not work. After a half a mile or so Gavin hit his stride and Mylie followed along. DH did the second walk and it went pretty well.

The Bark – Mylie is much more vocal than Gavin and lives in a rural area, so every door slam or car rev in the neighbourhood caused her to bark. Gavin (the follower) would then begin to bark too. Monkey see, monkey do.

The Outing – DH and I were going out for dinner. We separated the doods on different floors with baby gates but Mylie whined a lot, so we took our chances, left them together with the lights off and filled bones to keep them busy. Everything was intact when we got home.

The Visit – three couples came home with us after dinner for cocktails. Mylie and Gavin were super excited for the first minute, then just appropriately social. Everyone loved them. After a bit they lay side-by-side on the floor at our feet. My friend commented that they looked bonded and that Gavin will likely be down at the end of the week after Mylie leaves.

This is definitely a good opportunity to find out what it is like to live with two doodles, glad everything is going well. Gavin and Mylie look so good together.

I'm so happy to hear that "All" is going well with Mylie and Gavin!
It sounds like they are getting along so well...and it's a great "trial run"...just in case you ever think about a second Doodle...(smile)
I agree with Nancie...It was a "Very Good Idea" to not have the baby gates up while you were away!
It does seem as though they are enjoying being together...and...I think that Mylie (If I had to guess) might have jumped the gate to get to Gavin!! Lol...
Gavin will sure miss Mylie when she has to go home...as I'm certain that she will miss him...awwwww...

Hey...it's me...Sasha...
Just wanted to get my "two cents in here"...if you don't mind...
I've been reading all about this "Great Doodle Weekend!!
It sure does sound like a "Whole lot of Doodle Fun"...I must say!
Boy oh boy Gavin...your Mom is such a Great friend...watching Mylie for a Whole Weekend like that!
I have a few questions for you Gav...
Did your Mom make you Promise to be on Your Verrrry Bestest Doodle Behavior??
Did she tell you that you Better Listen to her...Or Else?? (smile)
Did your Mom have some very long talks with you...about things like...making sure that you remember "ALL" of the things you have learned...and to be a "Very Good Example" for Mylie??
Did your Mom have "several" chats with your Dad...about how much she needs his help...and he Better Be There For Her?? Lol...
Those would be some Really interesting things to know...because...being a girl Doodle...my Mom says...that I'm interested in "Everything " that is going on...'All Of The Time"!! (smile)
I think It's A Girl Thing...
I also think that's why "Girl's Are So Smart"!!!! (smile)
Well my friend...I have to go...Litterally...so...I'll check in later to see how you and Mylie are doing...
Your Friend Sasha

Sounds like everything is moving along great!! Maybe by the time Mylie goes home you might need to think about a permanent 2nd doodle.;-)

I think that Gavin is loving having a "house guest". This may turn out to be a really fun week for everyone.

Sounds like everything is great! I can totally relate to the "monkey see, monkey do" as that goes on here constantly. One will be barking because the other is and she doesn't even have any idea why she is barking! It is a constant work in progress here trying to train them not to bark at every sound. Enjoy the week.

This sounds as ideal as you could get. Enjoy the rest of the week!

Wow...sounds like things are going very nicely. Obviously they did not want to be separated while you were out. Had you tried it with the baby gates you probably would have come home to gates down and the two Doodles together anyway. Much easier to keep them together. I love hearing how they settled down so soon after your guests arrived. I bet you had a smile on your face seeing these two together!
