I just dropped Phoebe off at puppy day care because I have a friend coming over (all the way from IN, we are in MN) with her two small children (ages 3 and 5 years) who are precious but wild. I thought it best that Phoebe be out of the fray--we have an open concept house with no real way to gate her somewhere where she would not want to be part of the action plus, this is the first time my friend will be here so we need to do the house tour and such. I am such a worry wart. This is the first time I will be away from Phoebe for this long--day care and then grooming so I will not be picking her up until 6pm!!!. I know she will be fine as the day care is in our vet's complex so Phoebe will have the best of care--our former trainer is the head of the day care unit. Everyone adores Phoebe but I am so anxious. My husband thinks I am nuts because I miss her already. Phoebe is such a huge part of my life. I knew I could share this here on DK because I think it is safe to say you all 'get it.' Counting the minutes until 6pm...

UPDATE--I called the groomer at 6pm as I had not heard back and she said would be another hour!!! I just picked Phoebe up, took her for a walk, fed her a little dinner and now she is all clean and asleep near my feet. All is right again!

Put your feet up and relax, after the day you had, you deserve it.

After reading all that you have been through lately I suggest next time your friend comes to visit put the children in day care and let Phoebe stay home!!! :0

Oh dear, you have had a rough time. Hope Phoebe is now home in your arms and you two are giving lots of hugs and kisses.

The visit went so well until my friend's 5 year old discovered a leak coming from my ceiling --we had a new kitchen facuet installed professionally on Saturday --and then my husband tried to open our garage door and discovered that the tension spring is broken so it will not work!!! Adding insult to injury, my friend then left to see my mom's new condo and my mom had her park in her spot. The only problem was that it was too small and my friend ended up scratching the entire side of her car trying to get out of it!!! So far this year, my car was broken into and my purse was stolen, my husband lost his job (and is STILL unemployed), I have had two health problems and I was subpoenaed to testify in the trial of the robbers who stole my purse (identity theft issue) which I truly do not want to do next April. I NEED my my Phoebe. How many more minutes until 6pm???

She will love it :) These doods are social and you will miss her more than she misses you. Hehehe.

The only times I've had to leave the girls is when DH was in the hospital for a few nights! Both times we had our Niece who is 18 come and stay at the house and take care of the dogs! She texted me one night about 10pm saying "snuggling on the couch with two doodles ...... life doesn't get much better than this!" Of course that made me miss them even more but I was happy to know she was enjoying her stay and they were having a good time too!

When we took our first trip away from Gracie Doodle, we would call home every day. We still do! I think the sitters think we are nuts because we always ask the same questions. "Is she acting sad, is she acting depressed, is she looking for us..." And the answer is always NO! Let us know how the "greeting" with Phoebe goes tonight!! You know she is doing just fine!

I completely understand how you feel. I bet Phoebe is having a blast though!
