On this beautiful sunnny morning our hearts are broken as we had to let our beloved Keegan go. He was 14 years old and the time had come to let him rest. He has been the keeper of our daughter's secrets since she was 4 and the gentle soul that has been the quiet leader of our other furballs. They are who they are because of him. We will miss you Keegan.

I am so sorry for your loss. I too had loss a 16 yr old dog and know the sadness. They are such a huge part of our family and will always be missed. What wonderful pictures to have of you daughter and Keegen. It takes awhile for the tears to stop ..but they do, and then the smiles will come when you think of him.

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. You're Keegan knows how much he was loved and will be missed. It's so hard to lose them even if it really is the best for them. We love them to much to not let them suffer anymore. Try and think of all the wonderful memories - it seemed to help us. We lost our beloved Mickey a year ago in October. There will never be a day that goes by that we do not miss her, and that you will not miss your Keegan. We try to think of some of the funny things she did, like how many backpacs I had to replace because she kept eating through them to get to Brittany's snack - we laugh and it helps to remember some of the fun things. We had Mickey cremated and brought her ashes home. We buried them on her favorite napping spot in the yard (Mick-a-do hill). She will forever be in "her spot". Maybe if you can do something special like that it might help just a little. I wish you and your family the best. I hope that each day the pain get's a little easier.

I'm so sorry Carole. I have no words of comfort. I haven't gone through the loss of a pet yet. I can only imagine how tough it is.

Our eleven year old lab mix looks so much like Keegan in his face that I just tear up thinking about it. I am sure Keegan had a wonderful life hearing all of your daughter's childhood secrets and making her feel better when she was sad. These sweet old guys teach our human children and our younger pups so much about love and loyalty.

Thank you dear friends for your words of comfort. We were as prepared as possible for this day but it doesn't make the pain any less or the tears flow any softer. I know it's crazy but I feel terribly guilty for not being able to "tell" Madison, Bindi and Gaston the what and why about our decision and where Keegan is. This is one time I wish I was Dr. Doolittle and could talk to animals!
The above photo of Ali and Keegan was taken last Christmas. Indulge me as I share another tender moment taken just a few weeks ago. We are going to frame this one for Ali.
