In celebration of our one year wedding anniversary/DH's birthday/Labor Day weekend we decided to take a mini-trip to Pismo Beach, Ca.  It's about a 3 hour drive from Los Angeles.

I couldn't decide what to do with Zoe & Ben.

-Board them at a day care?  Ben seems too young and needs to be socialized more before I can let him on his own.  And it seems like it's too many days he might freak out.

-Board them with our vet?  But they are only let out 3 times a day and spend most of their time in the cages.  =(

-Have my sister watch them at her place?  It's a condo and she lives on the fourth floor.  I don't know if she can handle 2 medium sized dogs.  Ben again might freak out if she leaves them there home alone?

-Have my sister watch them at our house?  Again, she might leave them alone for too long, she might not put up the baby gate properly, they might chew on stuff and get into stuff that theyre not supposed to.  AHHH!

-board them with one of those dog websites where they have people watching them in their homes for a small fee?  Who are these people and even if they passed all the screening process...There are crazy people out there!  AHHHHHH!

so we are taking them with us!!!  AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I found a Pet friendly Hotel with lots of amenities that are great for our pups (even dog walking services).  Pismo Beach is also a dog friendly beach so I think they might enjoy romping around int he sand and water.  Our romantic and relaxing weekend get-away has now turned into a pet friendly family trip!  Wish us luck!!!

We will be in Pismo over labor day weekend too.  We take our dogs because we have an RV.  If you hadn't found a hotel, I would have suggested that you rent a trailer and stay at the campground. Depending upon where you are staying there is a dog park in Grover Beach that you could visit.  Technically you can't have the dogs off-leash on the beach and can incur a hefty fine if you are caught - just fyi.

I would add that we took Monty on our honeymoon!

We took our 6 month old puppy to Pismo/SLO over July 4th weekend and it was great!  Stopped for lunch on the way up at the Summerland Beach Cafe, which is right off the 101 and has a great, dog friendly patio.  We stayed in SLO at the Embassy Suites, and Molly even went to happy hour with us!  There is a wonderful restaurant in Cambria with a beautiful outdoor patio called Robin's, which is worth the drive if you feel like going north.  We found several wineries that welcomed her, too!  Pismo was crazy that weekend, so we didn't let her run the beach like we thought we would, but we walked the Avila Beach pier and went to Morro Bay where she got some great exercise.  We found that whole area to be especially dog-friendly, and would definitely do it again.  Have a great trip!

we have taken Monty on all our trips (he's 3)  This past week we drove for nearly 8 hours to our vacation cottage on the beach.  We are able to leave him in the house to go do local sight seeing, and feel guilty the whole time.  I asked DH if he thinks it too much trouble to take Monty vs leaving him with someone.  He said no, we would miss him too much, we might be too bored plus he loves being with us instead of being abandoned.... ha.
