Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
So, this has been happening periodically, but now it is a daily occurance.
Peri sleeps on her bed at the foot of our bed on the floor. She loves her bed and curls up on it as soon as we turn out the lights for bedtime (or if we start reading in bed). About 6 months ago, she would start waking up before our alarm went off - when the sun came up really. She would then pace around and jump up on the bed, which was fine with us so we could sleep in a little longer.
For the past month, she will not come up without us saying "come on up!" and us patting the bed. She will not at all. The new morning routine is her pawing at me (imagine her hind legs on the floor and front paws on me!) and giving a little friendly grrr. I then say "come on up" and pat the bed and she jumps up and sleeps until we wake up.
So what the dood? Why won't she just come on up? We did make a point to train her to go "OFF" when we got in the bed, so maybe she is trying to be a good doodle and ask politely first? Really, what gives?
Just another odd doodle trait. Peri got her Canine Good Citizen award and now she feels she must ask permission for certain things. What a good girl :) (I am kind of joking here....stop pawing me!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Maddie sleeps in her crate, on the floor or on her pillow during the night but early every morning she comes to the side of the bed and asks permission to jump up and stretch out. She'll sleep another hour or so until I get up and have my shower. Maddie can jump like a deer onto the bed but we have to haul her 65 lb butt into a vehicle - go figure.
Oops...forgot to say Peri is just being a good little doodle girl. She knows she has to keep up the good work, because now she is a Canine Good Citizen!!
