Perry is now 4 1/2 months and this morning was attacked by burrs.  He's had the random burr every once in a while that we were able to get out, but now he has hundreds.  They are around his face, around his eyes, in between his pads, the poor guy.

Brian and I worked on it for an hour and have finally relented.  He's going to a groomer in a half hour.  To get shaved.  We've been careful with brushing and getting him used to it and now his first experience at the groomer is going to be a full shave.

Part of me wants to take a before picture so I remember how bad the burrs were, but part of me wants to forget the whole situation!

It was sweet though-  at one point, Brian and I were working on two different parts of him and Perry started working on one on his leg.

Thanks everyone!!!   I didn't update because we got him back before my post was approved.  I did try baby oil before we called the groomer, but we weren't having luck with it.  Plus I was afraid because a lot of the burrs were right by his eye.

The groomer did a fabulous job.  She did trim him a bit, but she worked on getting the burrs out and was able to save a lot of his coat.

Some sort of oil and a good bath after will help in getting rid of those burrs. We have had a few incidents but no major ones so far.

Poor Perry! What an awful puppy experience! I hope that all are out of his pads. That's a first for the "first shave down" at 4 1/2 months!

Oh  No! thats awful... I completely know the feeling.  Bailey has had 3 times this summer head to toe in burrs.  I spent hours pulling them from her furr, the rest I just cut out. Someone here recently suggested Olive oil in their furr to help get them out. Try that next time! Its sad you have to shave him down with all his puppy furr, it will never grow back the same! Take the picture!
