Yesterday was an absolutely perfect day here in Chicago, and I was luckily to spend it hiking and playing with three amazing ladies - my new friend Monica, her dog Sophie and of course Lola. A muddy good time was had by all.
Lola did such a great job swimming and retrieving out of the water. She put almost every other dog to shame. Its hard to believe that a month ago, she wouldn't even go in past where she can stand. My taking her in with me and teaching her to swim, kind of like with a little kid - or rather, showing her that she already knew how to swim - is what did the trick.
Here is some footage:
After all that swimming, Lola decided to roll in the mud for a while. I laughed out loud when a passerby remarked that it was like a tourist at Elat following up their swim in the dead sea with a mud bath.
Here is a picture of "the girls" after it was all said and done:
Lola was so tired by the time we got home, after a quick de-tangling (which I insisted on), she didn't even wait for dinner. She passed out immediately, perhaps around 10:30 pm or so - and didn't move until 1 pm this afternoon!
I guess she needed her beauty rest after her swim and mudbath.

Sounds so fun! They look happy together!
OMD, I love it. It really is like a family on here - like having a thousand extra sisters or mothers online, all over the world. I like that a lot.
Sophie is an Australian Shepard Mix, and Monica is her owner. I've taken on a little bit of dog/owner training at night and on the weekends. I don't charge for it or anything, it's just for fun, it's something I've always liked and been good at and because it feels so good to see dogs and owners happy together. I was working with Monica and Sophie on polite leash walking. She is an awesome person and it turns out we have some things in common as well.
Fun video! What kind of dog is Sophie. and we are all dying to hear about Monica-so I will be the one to ask....
Thanks everyone - she really is becoming quite the little fish. Her new friend Sophie is also one of the smartest dogs I've ever met and a blast to work with.
What a perfect day, well maybe not with the mud:) I love the expression on Lola's face in the car, so cute! Wow, she must have been tired, no dinner? Libby has never missed a meal and sometimes she tries to squeeze in an extra here and there!
Oh Miss Lola! You are just so stinkin cute! Love the video!
Cute! If only you could market that mud the way they market the Dead Sea mud, Jay.
What a fun time!
I LOVE the Lake County Forest Preserve dog parks! Looks like you all had a great time!
