This was posted on a neighborhood website. I have used wasp spray for wasps and I can affirm that it is accurate and can shoot a distance.
"Here's a more humane way to wreck someone's evil plans for you: WASP SPRAY.
A receptionist in a church in a high risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.
The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn't attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection."
OTOH: I am not particularly concerned with being humane to a home invader who might cause me harm. I seriously doubt that a robber would pick my home with all the dogs barking... The little dogs start barking: yip, yip, yip and then Holly joins in with her deep and loud bark. That should deter any potential bad guy from invading my home.
However, if a home invader is stupid enough to choose the Crowe residence as a target while I am home... I can guarantee that he will never invade another home!

Richard, any intruder into our home would be met with same.
Carol, Thanks for posting this.... If it is a felony to use this on a person, i might as well stick with "PLAN A" which is giving the intruder a lethal dose of lead poisoning...
A very decent close up bad guy stopper is a twelve gauge shotgun shell with the pellets removed and replaced with steel wool with hot wax poured over it...
The load is lethal up close but will not penetrate walls and the velocity falls off quite quickly so it will not endanger neighbors...
Of course, I live in a semi rural area with long distances between houses...
Darn, Carol, you had to burst my bubble.
Richard, I was intrigued by this method of protection and went online to do a bit of further research. It seems this is an Urban Legend and may cause more harm than good. I would urge people to not follow this advice.http://oklahomapersonaldefense.com/waspspraymyth.html
