So Mousse has been dubbed the puddle monster - we are having such a hard time house training him. And lately he's just gotten worse - not going out side and then going inside as soon as we come in - and we've been trying everything we can think of. Finally a small sign of success! Today for the very first time - Instead of going on the floor Mousse walked to the door and gave a little wuff to get my attention then I took him outside and he did his thing. I was soo proud :) Hopefully we will keep taking steps forward!

Early on; we thought that Holly was a "Golden Puddle", not a Goldendoodle. She would pee whenever we took her out, pee several times in fact! Then she would repeat the process as soon as she came back in the house. Thank God for tile floors and the Hoover Floormate.

However as a third month birthday present to us, Holly finally learned where not to pee. There was no tapering off - it was like turning off a switch. One day she was peeing all over the house and the next day she did all her peeing outside and NEVER AGAIN HAD AN ACCIDENT.

Housetraining is made a lot more simple if you have a yard for the dog to use and if you are home all the time to monitor the dog...

ME TOO KAREN. I don't remember how many times I can be found in pubic saying--Good Out Starlit. Good Out. Good Girl.

Then Spud will come over and see and everyone is just having a poopy party!

Be sure to praise him for these successes! Act like he hung the moon when he goes outside! Your neighbors may think you're crazy, but they aren't the ones who have to live with him. Use the word for the act, too: "Good peepee, Mousse!"
Jackdoodle is five-and-a-half years old, and I can still occasionally be heard cheering for pee and poop, lol!

I've noticed by your other posts you are frustrated with potty training and having a hard time. Have you tried Poochie Bell Training? This takes a few weeks but many of us have had great success with this method. You will find many posts on here about Bell Training. One of my dogs uses them consistantly. It took three weeks to start getting the idea--but I swear by them. My girl, well she knows what they mean and will come running but will not ring them. Some just don't but I say the majority will. You can purchase them at the local pets stores or make your own.

Are you crating correctly? Do you leave just enough room in the crate for your doodle to lay down and sleep and that is all the room you are giving him? Most dogs will not use their den as a bathroom. Immediately take the puppy out of the crate and go straight out the door to his area. Keep an extra crate by the door to make this quick and easy.

Do you take him out every 15 minutes? Puppy bladders are the size of a quarter so not much room in there to hold a lot of liquid.

Never punish him for going potty in the house. Just say no, and walk outside with the dog. Be consistant though. If he has already done his business and you think--" oh well" then that is not going to work. Just gently say no, let's go OUT or Potty, and Pee Pee or whatever word you will use Forever. Evenutually the dog will be able to know this word and almost go on command. For example, in my house THE WORD IS 'OUT'.

If I say OUT my dogs know it is okay to go to the bathroom on the highway, at the store, at a neighbors. They know this word. When the dog does go OUT, lots of praise with the words, GOOD OUT. GOOD OUT. Just keep doing this.

Take all messes and clean up with a paper towel. Throw those towels into the yard so you can leave his scent out there.
I potty trained 3 more dogs this year. From December 1st Until April 1st my yard looked like a used thrift store at times. I was outside the entire winter. Some train in a few weeks, my last girl took 2 months.

But my recommendations are the bells, throw out the used towels into the yard, and take some treats with you outside for praise. Make a PARTY out of the potty thing if you are having trouble.
