I was standing in school just now waiting for my children when one of the moms that I know started talking about another school's auction she had attended last year. Apparently, a doodle was one of the items to bid on and this woman 'won' the doodle. When I asked her how much she adored him, she told me...wait for it...prepare yourself...that she had to bring it to a shelter because they were not prepared for how big and rowdy it would be and how much time and energy it would take to raise a doodle. Knowing the answer before I asked it but being a glutton for punishment, I asked her how she could have bid on a dog that she had no idea how to raise. Apparently, she thought he was 'just the cutest little thing' and that was enough. When I asked how her children handled their loss, she said that it was not a problem because daddy bought them another dog right away so 'no harm, no foul.' Truthfully, while I pray the dog is in a great forever home, I know that just about any place else would be better than being with woman! I am still trying to process this on so many levels.
