My next door neighbours little lab mix dog died in his sleep last night at the age of 13. My neighbour was driving along a highway near Detroit approx. 13 yrs ago when the people in the car in front of him threw a puppy our the window. Ed swerved to miss the flying object and pulled over to investigate. To his shock it was a puppy!! Ed picked him up and took him to an animal hospital and was told the puppy was barely alive and needed extensive surgery...Ed told them to do whatever was necessary to save the pup. Fours days later Ed took him home to Windsor just across the border and then they moved to Toronto where Will lived on our street. He always had a bad limp...basically walked on three legs...but he was a really good little guy. Edward...Wills owner is devastated. I feel terrible...

Sounded like Will lived a good life with your neighbor. It is a miracle that your neighbor happened to be on the highway that day to save poor Will. Not everyone would have stopped and helped. We had to make the hard decision to put our dog to sleep and I still wish, to this day, that she had gone in her sleep. RIP Will.

It is so sad when our pets die - I hope that Ed finds comfort in knowing what a wonderful life he gave Will. It has always taken us a while after the loss of a pet but then we find that we are ready to love again. I hope that Ed will find that someone special down the road.

Sad, but wonderful story.... I amm glad that despite of cruety, Will had great long life and went home peacefully in his sleep.... God bless you Ed, and rest in peace Will.....

Your neighbor, Ed, sounds like a really kind hearted soul!! It also sounds like Will had a wonderful life with him. I understand how you feel too. We were the "dog sitters" for our neighbor's dog Minnie when they traveled and they traveled a lot! When she past last year it was almost like losing one of our own...my thoughts of peace are with all of you!
