Rosco just scared the carp out of me!

We had just finished up a walk and were entering our yard when Rosco attempted to run after something (in the yard). I let the leash go so as not to get pulled on, figuring it was a squirrel. It was pretty dark in the yard, but the squirrel morphed into a cat. Frightened me a little, but assumed the cat would be quick enough to get away ... this 'cat' was was not that quick...just barely staying ahead of him...I started yelling after Rosco "NO" but he was deaf. Didn't attempt any other command as this was way above anything I knew he'd respond to. Why wasn't this cat getting away? I was so afraid he'd hurt it.

But it wasn't a cat...it was a... PUG!!! WTH? What is a pug doing in our yard, alone, in the dark? The chase continued in a smaller and smaller circle, I grew more and more frantic, trying to find the end of the leash to grab.

It's not like Rosco's ever hurt a small dog, and he's been around plenty. But...once a chase like that gets going you can't truly predict what will happen.

I ended up having to grab Rosco by the fur to stop him. And then I was able to take his leash. Instructed him to sit. Breathed. Took him inside, turned on the lights to the backyard and then went back out. But the pug was gone. Poor little guy...must have snuck through the small hole in our fence (that none of our dogs could ever slip through). I swear I've seen this same pug wandering around the neighborhood before.

I went out on our street to try to spot him, but it was way too dark and he probably was way too scared to be doing anything other than running for his life. I called animal control to let them know he had just been at my address, hopefully he'll be found.

But oh my that was a frightening chase to walk into after a most peaceful evening walk!

Oh stop the press! The officer just called me back and it sounds like he spotted some folks a couple houses down with a pug...so hopefully that was him, safe and sound!

No, you'll realize it but you may forget about it in a short while.

Does this mean when I'm 'old' I'll start talking like a sailor without realizing it?

You do realize Adina that we think you're great even if you're young--we're just jealous I guess.

Young has to do with one of the main advantages of getting older. That is not caring much--or if you perfect it--at all what others think. I complimented you on that in your last blog--I may not have mentioned that the skill comes with age. Unfortunately one of the disadvantages of getting older is being forgetful : )

What's young got to do with it? I see Leigh has just joined in...hee hee, sorry Adina, for riding roughshod over your blog.

I kinda figured you did. I didn't add that Adina is polite and proper because she's not only the administrator but she's young.
