In my previous blog we learned the story of Rosco's lost squeaker.

Today, a week later, we made the trip to PetCo again in hopes for a successful match and Clark spotted a little devilish squeaker that looked and sounded to be the same type that he has at home now (the ratted, circling the drain but still living one). We bought it.

Rosco was happy with it and I left him in the backyard to enjoy it in the grass, while the backdoor was open and I could hear him squeak along. Then I suddenly couldn't hear any more squeaking...I heard what sounded like tearing...hmmm.

This is what I found in Rosco's possession:

Notice the mini toupee of apricot doodle hair on its head.

Sooo...without too much ado he got to watch it go into the big trashcan outside.

*sigh*

I tried

I meant chewable by moms and dads. I defy any parent to tell me they never kissed and nibbled their baby's toes and feet, they're so cute...and I'm not that into babies.

As for dogs with babies, if the dog is secure with it's place in the pack, they will love and protect that baby to the limit. See pix attached, our Bearded Collie, my first wife, with my new born daughter Gina, 1980:

And Scruffy with Gina just a few months later.

I agree Nina, I was so worried but my animals were the very best. I think dogs by nature know exactly what is going on and actually protect the mom and new baby. Our babies would also pull themselves up by the scruff of back hair and then pat the heck out of the dog. The dogs loved it! My comment below was only for Roscoe so he could pretend and then convince Adina into getting him all the toys he wanted. Shhh, don't tell Adina.

Oh please don't scare the first time mom. When my oldest daugther was born I was concerned that my 3 older setters would not accept the new baby. But the crew loved her. In fact they became her furry walkers after she started crawling. Elizabeth would crawl up to them, grab some fur to pull herself into a standing position and 'steer' them where she wanted to go. =)

Only to puppies Kevin. Big dogs know better. Don't scare the new mom. I'm just trying to help Roscoe out here with a few hints.

Baby's chubby little feet are so chewable though aren't they? I remember it well!

:( So sorry Roscoe.
Roscoe, I know how you can get any toy you want any time you want. Don't tell your mom I told you this. Shhhh.

My son, Ian, was a 6 month- old baby and crawling on the floor when Moose, our chocolate lab, started chewing on Ian's chubby little feet. Yes, Ian did squeak ! A lot !

Mine can't do cloth toys...stuffing or no stuffing they will tear it apart. They have also NEVER been into human clothes like socks so I'd rather they not connect them to chewables. But we shall persevere...he'll survive even if I never buy him another toy again :-D

Sounds like a great idea Sharon, my two devour squeak toys with 1/2 hour after they get them. Only thing I have found that has lasted for them is the skinnnnneeeeezzzzz toys. They have no stuffing, so no mess that way. If they get squeaker out, they still have the toy safe for them play with, and they love them.

Looks like Elmo with Playboy bunny ears. I suppose squeakers are no longer on the agenda huh? My Bearded Collie was the same, nothing lasted more than 5 minutes, spent the rest of her life with super hard rubber toys with no squeakers!
