Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Bridget would have been 16. She died at almost 14. Chloe the eternal puppy, healthy as could be...energetic, well. Funny, fun, died suddenly at age 9, of an aneurysm. Other doodles are aging...I can't be the only one who has lost their babies...as some are older now...I am not trying to be a downer, but who else has gone through this horror?BTW I  adopted a beautiful Bella, a black F2 labradoodle this week.

So sorry for your loss. Its very difficult when such a sweet soul goes especially when it is unexpected. It feels so good to open your heart again even though you will never replace those that have gone before her.

I am happy I posted this, as you all have said such comforting words. It still seems surreal to me. I still can't believe her sweet, fun spirit is gone..and was gone is a blink of an eye. But God knows how I love dogs and need dogs, so he opened the 'door' to my finding Bella. I still miss my adult doodle Chloe..who had reached the age of being such a comforting companion, and seemed to have years still to go..But Bella will reach that..she is still forming..still such a puppy.but I am happy I am allowing myself to go down this road..yet..again.

I love the comforting refrain words of this hymn:

Without clouds the rain can't wash the land

Without rain the grass won't hide the sand

Without grass the flower's bloom won't grow

Without pain the joy in life won't show

I hope these words bring you some comfort and may time heal your heart.

I am so glad you opened your aching heart to a new furbaby to love and bring you joy!

The loss of a pet is so very painful but I am glad I have friends here who can support me when the time comes.  I am so glad you have Bella now!

I'm so sorry for your loss and sending hugs to you.  I love DK but a lot of our doodles are aging. I can't bear a to think of losing my BFF, but I also can't bear to think of losing many, many of the doodles we've gotten to know and love on this site.  The ones we have lost in the past few years are heartbreaking.  At least we can be there for each other. Welcome Bella.

Susan, just saw this - I responded on Rainbow Bridge. Please don't worry about being a downer. Let's be sad together. Friend/pm me if you need/want to chat, cry, vent, whatnot. You're definitely not alone!!

Someone recently started a group for people who had lost their doodles, or honorary doodles. I think it was called the Rainbow Bridge group or something similar?

Susan, I lost my beloved honorary doodle this summer, my Springer Spaniel.  He was only eleven.
