Today was Sophie's follow up apointment with the Opthamologist. The Dr. said that everthing looks good. he said that the redness in her eyes will come and go for about another month but should be completly gone in about a month or so. The scars that are slightly visible will fade. She only needs one type of eye drop twice a day instead of two different ones 4xper day.. which is soooo nice. Great news is that I can bring her around other dogs and she is free to play however she chooses.

Now it's time for obedience classes. With her sight, she has gotten much of her confidence back- which is great- but she is starting to really test the boundaries. We would like to keep her as well behaved as possible, and she really needs to be around dogs in a controlled environment. She needs to know that there is a time for work and a time for play even if other dogs are withinn sight.

I am not sure when we will enroll her. There is another doodle, but younger, in our area that may be taking classes in February.. I am hoping the two of them can become friends and possibly be in a class together at some point.

Well, we hit a major milestone today in the life of Sophie! Yay Sophie! Now she can run and play with other dogs, go to PetSmart, and take obedience classes. Boy is she gonna be a happy girl :)

Yay Sophie!!! It looks like she's having a blast in the snow. I just read your previous blog, too. Sophie is obviously incredibly happy in her new home. What a great story you and Sophie have. I'm so excited for her. She's probably going through a lot of the things a puppy goes through as their eyes start opening and they start exploring their world.

Hey Liz, you are an angel! I am enrolling Patti Cake in her 2nd puppy class in January and she loves them. Sophie will get so much out of it and so wll you. I agree about setting boundries for her, she will love you more for that too. Happy New Year to you and your family and keep us all posted about Sophie when you can. We are all sighing a collective sigh of relief after her last vet appt. I'm toasting you tonight at midnight!

She looks like a doodle snow bunny with her ears flopping in the wind! Happy, happy dog :)

These are incredibly sweet, smart dogs but they definitely have a mischievous streak too. I never did formal obedience school with Oski but he definitely was a quick learner with the commands & hand signals that we did teach him. He inherently wants to please us & so it makes him happy to know what we want from him. I suspect that once the novelty of playing with dogs in her new way has worn off she'll be able to settle down at class?

So happy for you guys & thanks for the update!

Look at her face as she bounces through the snow! Sheer joy! She is such a happy dog, and this is only the beginning...
I love your attitude about boundaries and training, Liz. It would be so easy to just coddle her and let her get away with murder...I am a little guilty of that, myself. I know she will just thrive with some positive training and interacting with other dogs & people...what a wonderful future our Sophie girl has in store! She is in such good hands.
