Murph had surgery today because he's had infected anal glands that were not responding to two rounds of antibiotics.  They have been uncomfortable and even painful for him and so he "licks" which irritates the problem even further to say nothing of giving him some rather disgusting breath.  Apparently they were even worse than our Vet suspected so she had to give him more sedation than originally anticipated.  He's home and doing fine tonight, but he's totally in "la la land".  I had a college roommate who looked like this most of the time actually.  Anyway I'm so relieved that this is behind us....I always worry when he's going to be under anesthesia.  On a lighter note he has been totally cracking us up.  I really think he is seeing something....maybe "dead people or dogs".  When he first got home he would only stand staring into space...then he did lie down but also staring at "something or someone".  It took me awhile to convince him that it actually WAS food in his dish.  Well now the worst is over and he's back to this world.  I know it's not right to laugh at him, but he really did look pretty funny....here's what I mean.

I say Big Murph owed you a few laughs, Jane. I'm glad he's feeling better. :)

Glad to hear Murph is better and that he still has his anal glands. I hope this is the end of that problem.

Murph seems better and is actually playing with Guinness now....almost zoomies.  Bonnie, they didn't remove the anal glands but because they were infected and it wouldn't clear with antibiotics they had to go in and clean them out.

How is Murphy this morning? What did the vet do? Remove the anal glands? I hope everyone at your house is doing better today than yesterday and that the days ahead bring continued health.

If it helps....Vern barks at NOTHING and I can't even blame it on anesthesia :) Murphy, You are too cute and I hope you feel better soon. Jane, You have had your hands full lately! I hope Tim is doing better, too!

Murphy, you are a stunning boy!
Zombies! ?
My blind dog stared at nothing constantly. He would often get lost and get into a corner. Staring at the wall as if he was waiting for it to move and I often wondered if there was something ghostly there before I knew he was rapidy loosing sight. I'm sorry, but I think it's funny too
Murphy, it's time to get well now. Feel better soon
