I think everyone is very familiar with the fact that Murph is my "challenge"....always has been.  Guinness, well he's always been the easy to figure out guy....what you see is what you get....well all except that thing about how he drinks his own pee right while he's going.   Never mind, that's old news.   Once we got Guinness through his IBS and put him on home cooking and I stopped even looking at him when he peed, it's been totally clear sailing with this guy.  A couple of weeks ago, little Guinness pretty much stopped eating.  He only ate enough to keep himself alive...no kidding.  So of course I freaked out and tried to make his home cooked meals a little more "inviting".  Our daughters were pretty disgusted by the fact that I home cooked for him at all, so when they heard I was trying to make the meals a little more "gourmet", that just about did it....I really think they were talking to lawyers about commitment.  They just don't get it...they still think you should just open up a bag of kibble, pour into a bowl and call it a day.  Thank heavens they don't have Doodles...that may work with the Golden and the Lab....but certainly not a Doodle.  Doodles have sensitive tummies and are VERY discriminating.  Anyway, back to my story about Guinness.  So, even these super yummy home cooked meals just wern't working.  Then he decided to take it to the next level.  Two days ago he decided he would not even come into the kitchen when I put his food down.  This was the absolute ultimate hunger strike.  I noticed that he would sit at the door of the kitchen and just wait until I took his food dish away.  That's when the "lightening bolt" hit me.  Maybe it was the dish...could that even be possible?  So I picked the dish up (it's the same dish he's had since the day we brought him home as a puppy) and put the food in a ceramic bowl (his dessert dish).  He saw it, came running, and ate every morsel of food.  Since then his food only goes in that dish, and he's eating like a poor starving boy.  So, help me make sense of this whole thing.  Why would a two year dog suddenly decide that he HATED his dish and would NOT eat out of it?  It's always clean....through the dishwasher.  Nothing changed about this dish.  The complexity of these dogs will never cease to amaze me.  I really think I might need a Dog Psychologist on retainer....or maybe I could find one who was willing to move in here....free room and board.

Phoebe has a sensitive tummy as well and is quite particular about her food though she will eat her new food without any  issue (for the time being, that is).  However, Phoebe hates to drink which, of course, leads to many potty issues.  She will walk over to her water bowl, sniff and then walk away--even after a long walk or playing outside.  I have tried different bowls, too, hoping to entice her...nothing.  Guinness eats to live and Phoebe drinks to do the same, only marginally.  Right now, I am supplementing her water with ice as she seems to still love that BUT she will not eat it from any bowl, only when placed on the floor (she loves to make more work for Mommy).  Her breeder told me that Phoebe's dad was a very quirky poodle; it seems the apple did not fall far from the tree but I would not trade her for anything!

Darwin has a medium to strong tummy I would say. And he will eat ANYTHING. So I've never dealt with this but thank heavens Guinness and Murph have such a wonderful dedicated doodle mom! How funny about Guinness not liking his bowl, that is really strange!

I feel so much better knowing that another dog has done this.  Daze did this a couple years ago.  I had 4 dishes all the same kind but in 2 different colors.  Daze refused to eat out of hers, so I switched the bowls around and she ate fine.  After a couple of days I used her old bowl and she refused to eat out of it again.  They were the heavy crock type bowls, washed in the dishwasher.  I got Daze a stainless steel bowl but she could see her reflection and wouldn't eat out of it either.  Daze ended up getting one of my Fiestaware dishes and eats with no problems.  Maybe Guinness will eat out of eat next week.

Ads seem to be showing up on all blogs and annoying.

I also agree about the ads, especially in the middle of a blog. They really detract from it, and it would even worse if Jane had included photos in her blog, which people often do. Really distracting and intrusive to have it in the middle of the blog itself. When they're off in the margins, I don't mind them so much.

Very disappointed with this new "feature".

I agree with you F Parker.  The adds flash, move, blink and are a distraction.  I just checked Doodle World and they don't have these adds, so they aren't on all internet sites!!  I will not click on them or buy anything that is advertised in them.  I am very disappointed these adds are here as they have ruined my experience.

There are now ads on all blogs and discussions. I think they are very intrusive!!! Not only that, there are rules against breeder sales on the front page and now the ads include them. Not only breeder ad but those puppy brokers. I am the only one revolted by this. It makes me sorry I sent a donation to DK I am sad to say since commercialization obviates the need for my support . Also, I intend to never click on these ads in order to give no support to this concept. What a sad happening. Is this the beginning of the end.

Sorry Jane, to get back to the blog but I have no idea why Guinness is doing this but at least you've outsmarted him for now.

I have an add for Lotronex and a notice to find an IBS doctor today. Seems fitting.

I have a Foster Smith ad now in your blog. Earlier I noticed a different one.

Melody, Guinness and Murphy usually get yogurt with craisins for dessert.
