Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I knew some of you would like that title. My husband and I have a king size bed and it always seemed like enough room until we got our doodles. Now, I like sleeping with our dogs, but my DH does not like sharing his space. Every night, Vern and Fudge start out on our bed while I watch TV. I know I have said in previous posts that neither of my dogs will jump up on the bed or jump off the bed, so in order for them to start out on the bed with me, I have to put them up onto the bed. Fudge is no problem, but hoisting Vern is like putting a cow on our bed. Frankly, I don't mind doing this, because they stay on the bed and there is no jumping up and down and they stay put. However, when the DH comes to bed, it starts to get interesting. Inevitably, Vern will want down soon after the DH gets comfortable and will stand on the edge of the bed. When my husband gets up to put him down, Vern will lay back down. So, each night the conversation goes like this...."Vern, this is the last time I am getting up to put you down.....didn't you say that the last two times you got up?....I mean it, Vern, I am getting tired of this....try saying Let's go....LET'S GO, VERN.....just lift him off the bed...he weighs a ton.....now my back is killing me.....Is Vern ok???" At this rate, I think I have three options....get some doggie steps, a California King Bed (aren't they bigger?) or a new, more patient, DH :)

Ellie and Wheezy sleep with us in a king size water bed...I work third and their dad works 1st shift...so it's only crowded on weekends. :)......but they still think they should have half the bed!!! LOL Wheezy likes sleeping on the floor most of the time but Ellie has to lay right beside you!! But...I love it!!

We do love where we live...until we lose power (which happens almost every storm) and the leaves start coming down. It is a full time job taking care of those leaves, however we feel lucky every day. Thank you!

Joe, I bet there are tons of us that sleep with two doods.

Glad to see my wife & I aren't alone sleeping with the doods

I was thinking the same thing, BTW. Your deck looks like a haven. A lot like my parent's back yard. They live 7 miles from downtown but wake up to a forest every day. A dream to me and the dood....we are condo dwellers, but when we leave for work I tell T & P: "we are going to work to buy a backyard for you" LOL!

Allyson, I knew it :) I don't blame you one bit. He was there first and sounds like the perfect bed mate to me. Those were my same requirements when I was looking for a husband....takes up no room and doesn't smell :)
Melissa, Thank you for the compliment on our messy deck!

Taquito sleeps in the bed - I know it's not "fair", but he is 6.5 lbs and has slept with me since day one - before I was married. He takes up no room, never smells, he is my little buddy and according to DH "the LAST dog to sleep in our bed". LOL

They have no trouble jumping on the couch to get the cat or on my hot tub which is higher than the bed. My doodles are weird :) This is what I looked out my window to see yesterday.

Ned needs no assist to jump on anything. He can leap on the patio table when the BBQ tongs are there (he hopes it is some meat) and although our bed is high - no problem for him. Clancy is a heavy guy and doesn't get on the bed much (maybe in his former life he was trained with better manners than Ned) but he doesn't have any trouble jumping on it. I don't think he could jump on the table though (lucky for us!) I love Ned's leaps off the bed. He reminds me of a glider squirrel because he stretches all four legs out and 'flies' to the ground.
