We recently let our doodles free in the house and when we leave and drive past the house, they are on the back of the couch in the window watching for our car. I often wondered what they did once we turned the corner...for the most part I found out they don't touch their toys-Chloe just sits in the window and waits for us sometimes falls asleep on the back of the couch-she has great balance. Myla is a little more restless, she's up and down off the couch goes to the door and cries and then we heard this from our little baby! HOWLING!!! I NEVER heard her do this before! She also barked quite a bit out the window! I really hope the neighbors don't hear her. This must drive Chloe crazy also! I'mkinf of concerned.

What do your doodles do when you are gone???

No problem Joanne-thanks for the updated info. I have a webcam on my new laptop so that should work?? We had a 3 hour video and all we foubd was restless Myla moving around and whining and crying! Trust me my dogs don't need temptation they find what they want no matter what! So we did this again yesterday and got about 3 hours video...of them sleeping on the couch! BORING!!! My liitle one picks on the older one all the time so I wanted to know if she does this to her when we are gone...nope-she just snggles with her! So obviously it's an attention getter when we are home. After hearing that howling the firstvideo, I had to know if she did it all the time so I tried again yesterday. No barking or howling yesterdayso they must have been tired. No good movies yet-but I think I will do this for awhile and try your find also!

Sorry Jennifer.  I feel like I've taken over your blog.  But... I just want to join you in the fun.  And... it really is fun to spy on dogs!   Thanks for letting me post so much here.

This is just a little web camera.  So in all, you may have to spend $40.00 all together.  Maybe I was confusing so  here is what I used:

1. WEBCAM--A simple Logitech webcam-- purchase at any store.

2.APP--this particular one was for iPhone but there are may more apps out there depending on your phone

--then with the app comes a link for the software.

Before you leave, turn on your computer and software.   The camera only comes on when there is movement in the house and it stays on until the movement stops.   Once something moves--you phone alerts you to movement.

Thanks, Joanne.  So, the app is actually on your IPhone, but the actual software that's capturing the photos is on the computer, right?

Looking forward to your REAL video though   :)    Did you leave anything out to tempt them?   For Starlit, who really had a rough time being crated we left leg bones.  She would scream for awhile but she did settle down when she thought we were not there.

From there you get a link to download the free software to install on your computer.  Audio is also provided with this app which was a plus for me when I went looked at many others.  You can set the sensitivity of the motion.  It can also be used as a security system!

I found ( just now ) that is leaves you with a million .,jpegs or other type of picture files.   Looking now to see if you can actually get video files.  When you are alerted on your phone, you do see the event in motion as it is taking place.
