I have two recent pet stories that I had to share with everyone!
First, I have learned that no matter how well-trained a dog is, they are still dogs. I spent Thanksgiving at my older brother's house in S. Florida. He is a sheriff's deputy and works K9s for the department. Living with his family are his current K9 partner, Chess, and his retired partner, Daisy. Daisy has done both bite and sniff work her entire life and just retired last year. Literally hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of training! And thanksgiving morning, my little brother (only 19) took her out to pee and she TOOK OFF! Had to get the patrol car and whole neighborhood to look for her. We found her after 30 min, and when she got home, she walked herself into her kennel because she knew she was in trouble. But it just goes to show that even 13 years of professional training, she still has a mind of her own! :-)
Story 2: I just returned home from a long weekend out of town. I drove up to see a wedding and visit some family. My two cats are self-sufficient and usually don't have any problems. Apparently, this was one-too-many times to be left though, because I came home to a wreck! Puke in too many places to count (they both puke when they get upset), a broken glass in my bathroom that shattered everywhere, and the clincher: they tied my bed to my dining room table! How? Well they found a spool of thread I had left out from fixing a dress. They managed to bat it all over the house, leaving trail as they went. In the end, the thread was around my dining room table (though I know I left it in the office) through the hall, wrapped around a stool in the bathroom, into the bedroom and under the bed, around the dresser, over the tv table, and just tangled up. So thank you, for keeping me organized and tying my furniture together!
Though not dood stories specifically, just a little perspective on the humor allowed us by pets.
And my puppy is 1 week old today! Sorry, no new pictures yet. 1 down, 7 to go until she comes home! I'll be posting a survey for names when the time gets closer.
