A morning romp

First off, thank you everyone for my wonderful birthday wishes!!! It made my day!

"Free" to good home

Marley has been with us for a little over a week now and we are all getting used to being a "double-doodle" family! We love him dearly and he is getting used to our backwards routines. Lizzie has shown him all of the best hiding spots in the backyard and he's getting used to sharing space with felines. He has even held his bladder for our overnight shifts since day 1!

A true diamond in the rough!

I know everyone wants to know how it is going with Marley and here it is: WONDERFULLY!!!! Marley is the sweetest-natured dog who fits in so well here, it's like he's been here forever. He's been busy these last few days!

Thursday was Marley's first vet visit since getting neutered at 7 weeks. Surprisingly, he's in pretty good health. Heartworm test negative! He's about 5-10 pounds underweight and has really yeasty ears, but no fleas or mites. Pretty sure the yeasty ears was from having… Continue

Lizzie has a brother!

Unfortunately this is not the happy bring-home-a-new and healthy puppy story it should be! Before I begin, I HATE HATE HATE that people bring dogs home who have NO idea what goes into taking care of a dog, either financially or time-wise!

Lizzie's Christmas Present!

Lizzie Louise got to open her Christmas present early this year because I had to leave town! Michele Baker, from Paul and Michele, and her dog Molly doodle gave Lizzie the CUTEST doggie bed ever! It is pink (Lizzie's favorite color) and is embroidered with her name! Lizzie laid on it constantly right after she opened it and piled a bunch of her toys on top of it. Lizzie won!!

Today, my vet's office had an educational open house and costume contest, and Guess what?!?!? LIZZIE WON!! I dressed her up as one of the vets since she has strawberry blonde curly hair! The judge said that anyone who had the nerve to dress a dog up like one of the vets deserved to win!! It was awesome. She's exhausted now, but had a great time socializing with everyone.…

Hypocritical? I think so....

Between July 2nd and July 20th, Lizzie lived with my grandparents. I had two trips to take where I couldn't take her with me; a family vacation to FL with my family and then a camping trip with the DBF's family. I worked 5 straight nights in between and figured it wouldn't be fair to jostle Lizzie between places. Lizzie's First Grooming!

Lizzie was groomed for the first time today! She was six months old this week. I took the directions with me that I printed out from DK and it worked out great! They even asked to keep them for other customers. So you be the judge:

doodlefish

I thought I had a doodledog, turns out I have a doodlefish! Lizzie is 4.5 months old and took to the water like she has been swimming forever!

The pool got opened up this week and Lizzie followed my 10year old cousin right in! The three big labs are SCARED of the water, but Lizzie had a ball! You can see her teasing them about not getting in the water.

My absence, explained.

I have been without internet, television, or home phone since last Thursday! I have had a chance to check in on Janet's blog from work, but not much else!

Here's Why:

Lizzie, my adorable/loving/wonderful puppy chewed through the cat-5 cable outside from the phone box. That one line had all of my connection to the outside world! I cured my addiction!! (well, sort of)

So I am so obviously addicted to DK and to my doodle. So addicted, in fact, that I have let housework and chores fall behind in order to spend more time with Lizzie and getting all of the updates on DK. Laundry has piled up (except for the necessities), dust has coated the furniture, dishes were dirty, and nothing has been ironed for a while. (Adina, It's all your fault!!) Haha!

Lizzie really was "the [puppy] who lived"

Sorry to take from Harry Potter, or to do 2 blog posts in one morning, but I just wanted to type this out before I forgot to. I just read some news feeds that said that one of Oprah's new puppies (Ivan) has died of parvovirus and the second is being treated for it.

Sneaky Doodle

So, Lizzie is never out of my line of sight unless she is crated or in her ex-pen. This morning, however, she weaseled past me! I guess the office door was slightly ajar and she took the liberty of running the house! I, of course, was getting all of the important DK updates. Lizzie gets the OFFICIAL "healthy" title!

Lizzie went to the vet today for her 10 day follow up after being released, and she is doing phenomenal! The vet staff were AMAZED at how much bigger she looked and how happy she is. She is up to 13.7 pounds! (Trust me, we have worked for every ounce of that too.) She was wiggly and happy to see everyone, she actually ran into the office to say hi! Puppy Love from Lizzie

First, I have graduated to a "socialite!" WOO!

Second, I think I finally found a food that Lizzie likes, eats, and poops! It is Blue Buffalo chicken and rice. I'm still supplementing with canned food from the vet, but she has been eating the blue buffalo for a couple of days and doing well. She also stopped eating her own poop! Don't know if it has any relation to the food, but it's good anyway. She still, however, likes to roll in it. I forsee our first bath quickly… Continue

Lizzie is HOME!!

Lizzie has made it home! At almost 11 pounds and 12.5 weeks old, she is a solid, happy, puppy!!!! She's super energetic and playful! It's a totally different dog! (Well, she's still as sweet and is a total cuddler!)

As soon as I get pictures uploaded, I'll post them!

Thanks again to everyone who gave me advice and support over the last month.

Heartbreak and tears

So, as most of you know, I have been anxiously waiting for my new puppy for months; asking questions, shopping, and reading EVERYTHING so that I would know what to do. My countdown to January 30th started the day she was born. She was the best looking pup of the bunch!

Sometimes, you just have to smile.

I have two recent pet stories that I had to share with everyone!

First, I have learned that no matter how well-trained a dog is, they are still dogs. I spent Thanksgiving at my older brother's house in S. Florida. He is a sheriff's deputy and works K9s for the department. Living with his family are his current K9 partner, Chess, and his retired partner, Daisy. Happy Birthday!

12/2/08 marks the birthday of my new puppy! She and her 8 litter mates were born yesterday evening. And I think they are the cutest 1-day old puppies ever! (Not that I am biased or anything!)

I have announced it to the entire extended family and hospital, since I found out while at work. Now begins the shopping and puppy-proofing.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!! 8 weeks seems like forever!!

WOOOOO!!!!!
