I remember when Phoebe was learning to climb the stairs.
I was afraid I'd have to carry her. When she finally learned to climb up, she wouldn't come down. I told Jess, "She's never going to learn how to do stairs."
Jess responded that she will if we gave her time.
Today, after a little time, Jesse climbed stairs! He was so proud of himself. Nephew Phil was there to capture the moment on his cell..
While I had a room of fifth graders shouting and filled with end of the year hyperactivity, I am pulling my hair out and I missed Jess's climb. What a great day for him!

I left after school and headed up with his "running" shoes. I'll bet he'll have better stability than his hospital socks.
We had dinner together and Frank and Kathy joined us. Unaccompanied by his drip or walker, Jess came to the 4th floor lobby with us, sat in the comfy chairs and had a nice visit.
How about that?

It is late for me and Phoebe is cuddled in bed.
More later.

BTW...I know those socks...those are the socks with the rubber gripper marks on the bottom that Mayo gives to all the patients to walk in. Not as good as running shoes, but better than normal socks. We have several pair of them around my house :)

I am sooo happy! This is a big step on the way to going home! And no drip...that must be a relief for him! Tell him to keep up the good work!

Ooops, forgot to say. We would never have let someone go up and down stairs in socks - too many safety issues. Make sure he has some shoes to wear for next time. And give each other a congratulatory hug!!

This is nothing short of a miracle. I've been out of town on business and got back to this post - I feel like while I was gone Jess took over the world! We're all cheering here!

How about that? How about AWESOME!!!!! Are those doctors that are actually helping him?!?! That Mayo staff is amazing. Tell Jess that Lizzie will be glad to race him up and down the stairs whenever he wants!
