[I just had a lovely message from my Breeder telling me all about the puppies and how she is going to allocate them at 6 weeks.  Photo's coming very soon she said.  I told her I would blog the journey home and the early weeks and she is delighted about that].

Since it is Mother's Day in the US I thought I would tell you some stories about my eldest child Jessica who is now 30 years old.  These memories are as clear now as when they happened.  This is the child who told me age 2 and a half to sit down, that she had something serious to tell me that she would be leaving home and that she needed to tell me early so that I wouldn't be upset.  Her words where ' 'Children don't live with their Mummies and Daddies forever and I don't want you to be upset. That's life, it's just the way it is'

When Jessica was four years old and  following Jordan's death I took her for a month to my Mother who at that time lived in Israel.  Mum was a pragmatist, and said several times to me not to spoil Jessica and definitely not to buy her any more toys.  I of course could never resist and we spotted a gorgeous doll in the toy store one day which I bought for her.  On the way back to Mum's I said to Jessica 'Don't tell Grandma you have a new doll' and repeated the message until we got to the apartment .  Jessica ran up the steps shouting 'Grandma. Grandma, I want to show you something' At which point I thought my message was lost.  Running into Mum Jessica thrust the doll at her and said 'Grandma, I want to show you my old doll'!!!

During the same holiday Mum and Jessica would play a game. It went like this.  Jessica was heavily into the Care Bears at that stage and had brought three with her.  Mum would put a bowl of nuts and honey in the fridge and Jessica would take it when she wasn't looking and eat it.  Mum would then moan about the Care Bears eating  all the nuts and honey and so it went on.  One day I went into the bedroom and there was Jessica spitting out nuts and honey into the wastebasket.  When I asked her what she was doing she said  'Grandma thinks it's the Care Bears eating the nuts and honey but it's really me, I can't eat any more' and don't want to upset her''

Children really are a blessing and I have always felt that I learned far more from them than the reverse.

Have a wonderful Mother's Day all my DK friends.

I love the story of Jessica and the OLD doll.  It reminded me of when my daughter was around four.  We had bought her dad a raincoat for Christmas and I impressed upon her the importance of not spoiling the surprise; so that night at dinner, using her best four-year-old "reverse psychology", she said to her dad, "Next time you're at Nordstrom, don't bother looking at the raincoats; they're all ugly!"  Kids are so great!!!

What a delightful daughter you have and how lucky you are to have her, as well as she is to have you.  I am so excited to follow your puppy-getting blogs.
