You've all been hearing that our Murph is getting to be a BIG boy. Well he could no longer fit in any of our dog beds without either his head or his "fanny" hanging off the side. So, when we were in Newport last week we headed for the Black Dog store. They had just what we needed....a huge bed for Murph that actually matched the bedroom. We brought it home thinking he would love it...NOPE, not so much. Here it is....nice right?

He refuses to sleep here....now he will only sleep on our bed, and preferably on my side of the bed. Here's the big guy...

Are you getting the idea that he thinks this bed is his?

Here he is on MY side...Trying to move him is almost impossible. He digs in and won't budge.

He's hates the couch pillows, but he's loving the ones on the bed....

This one is just perfect for his chin. It's hard to hold a big Doodle head up all day. A guy needs his rest.

While Murph is making himself very comfortable on Mom & Dad's bed, Guinness is just watching from the floor. He's too small to jump up there himself. Life is sad for the little guy, because Mom's not always around to get him up!

UPDATE:
I can't believe what just happened. We just went in to make our bed, and we found that Guinness had "marked" the corner of the bed coverings. From the position of the "pee" he must have lifted his leg and gone right on the bedspread and comforter at the corner of the bed. He has been marking outside for the past few weeks (since he learned how to lift his leg), but NEVER inside. How bizarre. I'm thinking this must be has way of saying that the bed is his "territory" which is probably stemming from frustration over the fact that Murphy can get up there whenever he wants, and Guinness can't. I need the stairs FAST. Anyone else have a Doodle that has marked things inside the house?

WoW! What a 'smart' dood....to think to do that to express his 'opinion'....have you looked in bed, bath, and beyond? What about Target or Walmart??? I will keep my eyes open! Good luck with your search!

We have been going through the bed thing for the last few weeks as well. Lucy has taken to being a little afraid of thunder, so anytime there are storms we have let them come into our room with us and get up on the bed until the storms pass. We toyed with upgrading to a King (mostly because my parents have a beautiful Amish King bed that they wanted to trade for a queen). We seriously considered it until I just decided it would be too big in our room, not to mention it wouldn't matter how big the bed is, Lucy would still want to sleep where Lucy wants to sleep ..... right on top of me! So, we are sticking with our Queen! I think the steps will solve your problem though! BTW, I love Murphy's new round bed. He looks so adorable on your bed ..... sort of like "Shabby Chic", no wait, I guess that would be "Shaggy Chic"!

Murph is getting so very big! We have a trunk at the end of our bed so both dood and chi can come on up when invited. Peri is only allowed when it is daytime. She sleeps on her bed until 6:03 am (sunrise today), then I hear her stirring, pat the bed and say "come on up". HA
Hopefully you can break the peeing habit - uhoh

Thanks, Laurie. I'll check out our local TJ's. I found some online too, but I'd rather not have to pay for shipping. Maybe I should also check PetCo.

Our TJ Maxx had dog steps for sale last time I was in there.

Karen, it's a Queen bed, but we were just thinking that it's time for a King. There just isn't enough room with Murphy. He is never on the bed at night when DH comes to bed, but it's really tight now fitting the two boys on the bed with me earlier while I'm watching TV. I really like the idea of steps for Guinness, so he can get up there himself. I need to look around to see if I can find them. I don't worry about the bedding....it's all washable, even the covers on the little pillows. This bedding has been washed "lots"...pretty much whenever it rains. It's not as pretty with muddy paw prints. The boys are getting groomed tomorrow, and then I'll do a video when they're looking handsome. Murphy's Puppy Star Medal and Guinness's TDI bandanna came in the mail this week, so I'm going to try to get the boys to wear them for pictures....sure they will.

Oh, Guinness looks so sad! I think you should get him a set of steps or a little bench so he can get up there, too!
I cannot believe how big Murphy looks! Please tell me that isn't a king-sized bed! At least he isn't throwing those pretty pillows on the floor.
Any chance of training Murphy to stay off the bed unless he's invited up? He really is going to ruin that bedding, Jane. I have to keep an old blanket over the bed, because jack has torn two comforters just jumping on & off. Not to mention the dirt.
Your boys are both SO cute! I was just thinking today that I needed a Guinness & Murphy fix! Any new videos?

Murphyyyy - your new bed is perfectly nice. There is lots of great fringe around the edges that would be good for chewing on. I would bet that if Guiness decided to lay on your new bed, you would be much more interested in it!
