It really is true...Murph has had a bit of a "naughty day", but he is just so darn cute all I can do is laugh. What's up with that? I think it's a "second dog" thing. Why do I always have such high expectations of Guinness, but not Murph. It's just WRONG! Murph just has this way of looking at me with a goofy "cocked head" and I melt. I can't get upset with this dog. Soon he'll be walking me on a leash. Today's examples (in addition to eating the tick)....
I went to pick up some things at CVS. On a table by the registers they had some clearance items including a package of 12 doggie tennis balls. These were not ordinary tennis balls....they were in beautiful colors. I'm not kidding....lavender, hot pink, light pink, turquoise, lime green, orange, plum. I've never seen tennis balls like this before, and they were only $4.00. Do you think I should have gotten a hint by that price. Well I didn't because I was too in love with these colors. So, I bought them and brought them home, took them out of the bag, and put the package on the credenza in the hall. Murph spotted them right away, and he loved the colors too. I left for a while, and Murph "credenza surfed" for the first time ever. He got the package of balls, opened it, and then started to systematically rip the outsides off of these "really pretty" tennis balls. He did a pretty good job. I like the fact that he didn't waste too much time on any one ball...he was going for quantify not quality. I think he was very proud of himself...and those colors were still pretty scattered in pieces on the floor. Where was Guinness you ask...just watching.
Guinness has found a great way to completely blow Murphy's mind. He hides on him. Now wouldn't you think that Murph with his "Lab nose" would be able to sniff him out. Nope. Today Guinness decided to hide under one of the dining room chairs. These chairs are upholstered with "skirts" that go to the floor, so Guinness clearly can't be seen when he's under there. Murphy was "on the hunt" trying to find his brother, and getting more and more frustrated. He finally figured out that he was under this chair, but he couldn't reach. He "flipped out" and as I looked in from the kitchen I could see him take the upholstery in his mouth and try to rip if right off the chair. I don't think I've ever moved this fast before. Luckily I got to him before he was able to do any real damage, but if I hadn't been right there there would definitely have been one less dining room chair.
My DH told me that while I was out shopping (for pretty tennis balls) he was sitting in my desk chair staring at the computer. I'm betting he was trying to log onto DK to tell you his side of the story...and you'd probably believe him.
