Why am I here?
Of course first and foremost, I am here because I am a Doodle owner. That's a given, right? But I've been a dog owner for twenty years and have never dipped a toe into a site like this before. So, why now?
Because my Rooney has turned me into someone even I do not recognize. My sister, who has always been the true blue animal lover of the family, can hardly contain her amusement/shock when I prattle on about the latest dog book I've read, or my ridiculously amateur theories on dog training and obedience. My husband, who has always taken the lead on caring for our dogs, has been nothing short of giddy/puzzled by my total, unwavering commitment toward being the primary caregiver for our new little furry child. And my friends, initially enamored by the unquestionable cuteness of our new pup, are now starting to shake their heads and wonder why I am still so smitten with the little guy after almost 3 months of housetraining, nipping, and endless poop piles in the backyard.
What is it about this little Doodle that he has gotten me so wrapped around his little paw?
So, the truth is, I am here because this might be the only place where I can show my true colors and be the Crazy Puppy Lady that I have become. Maybe then I can keep my secret identity under wraps a little better in my day to day life and my friends and family won't feel the need to stage an intervention over my puppy addicted ways.
I am also here (another confession) because my lurking behavior on this site over the past month started to feel creepy. :) I have learned so much and so enjoyed hearing from other Doodle crazy owners that it started to feel somehow deceitful not to go ahead and jump in with both feet.
So, when I post photos and nauseatingly gush over my pup here, I trust my secret as The Crazy Puppy Lady will be safe. Thank you for this haven for Doodle addicts everywhere!

I feel the same way..I have been a dog owner all my life, but for some reason have recently become OBSESSED! My doodle Chloe amazes me everyday, and the love I have for her and my 2 yr old Golden Bentley has everyone saying I am the crazy dog lady! I even bought a bumper sticker (one of many) that says, " I kissed a Dog.., and I liked it!" Welcome to the club!
Welcome Lori, you found your people :) Glad you are joining in!
You are really in the right place, Lori. This IS the crazy dog lady place. If you go to cafe press you can even order doodlekisses clothing that shows the world that you are obsessed.
Lori, I am glad you found us. DK has a lot of members and not all of them are as crazy as some of us. After you have been around awhile you will come to recognize the real doodle addicts and I am proud to admit I am one of them. My husband who didn't want a dog and really didn't want any dog called a 'doodle' is totally nuts about 'Dad's boy'. The motto around our house is "It's all about the doodle", and I have the t-shirt to prove it. Gush away, you are in good company.
Lori! Thanks for the confessions...I think that's why we're all here, even if some won't admit it!
Lori - all of our dogs have always been named after old movie stars. We had Crosbey (after Bing) - a yellow lab and the love of my life until my doods. Then we had a black lab - Bogart and then a rescue kitty (who is still with us) - Humphrey. Now Rooney (Mickey) and Stuart (Jimmy but I didn't like the Jimmy Stewart spelling and so changed that part). I've never had a female but always thought that having a Garland or Bacall would be nice!!! Sadly - 2 doodles is all I can handle - lol!
Hey Lori - I thought that might be who your Rooney was named after - we actually had another person join DK about a year ago with a Rooney named after the same soccer player. Sadly I can't remember her first name but for some reason she didn't stick around. So welcome - the more Rooneys the better!!!!
