Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Ok folks, are you ready? Now, let me just say first - Huskins is not a doodle of any kind! I know, I know, this is shocking! Yes, that's right, ABSOLUTELY NO POODLE! I am still in disbelief! I never questioned that there was something other than poodle. He just looks like he has it in him somewhere.

Anyway, I think one of the breeds detected in Huskins is pretty obvious. Many of you had already guessed correctly. The second, I actually suspicioned here  just lately. I am totally weirded out that my suspicion was correct. The crazy thing, is that the strongest feelings I had toward guessing the breeds in Huskins, I somehow already knew. Looking back, only twice in my postings on DK I said "i have a feeling" about what he has in him. Turns out, my gut was right! As many of you have already said, "If you think you know, you are probably right"!

The results from the Wisdom Panel "Insights" kit says Huskins is 50/50 Yorkie and Australian Shepherd! Not a single other breed was detected. Even my son said the whole time "he is a Yorkie". His pictures clearly show he looks like a Yorkie. That is what makes him so darned cute! I bet one of his parents was a "blue merle" Australian Shepherd. This would make sense, Huskins has so much of that silver/gray coloring and that dark liner around his eyes.

So what do they call this designer mix? Yorkaussie? Sheporkie? I don't know, but what a great combo! Now we can take him to the farm and be sure he'll fit right in with the cattle.

As for DK, I am probably now the only member that has a dog with absolutely no Doodle in his dawdle! Hehee! Well, I hope you all have gotten a kick out of our journey anyway! Thanks for all the fun!

How fun!  It took awhile, but it's always so cool to learn what we have in our pups!  Guess that's why we get so much into geneology...It's fun to know "Who we are...!"  Your Huskins is 100% precious!

That is such an interesting combination, it could start a new ``designer`` breed. He is 100% adorable.

I might be a great guesser, but even more impressive is that you knew my nickname was "Kempster". LOL

I'm glad you discovered what type of dog Huskins is....he's definitely adorable.   :-)

Oh, is Huskins an adult? i thought he was just a puppy and that is why I thought he was awfully big for a yorkie mix--he is such a cute dog that maybe sheporkies should be created more often!

Isn't that amazing! he is kind of big for a yorkie mix though, isn't he? Well, who knows--might have been a BIG yorkie! Glad you figured it out--

I agree with Rickie. An honorary doodle. The good news is Huskins hasn't changed a bit. And who knows how accurate the test is?
