Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
We have had several very strong applications for Sully so I expect that he will be leaving us for his furever home soon.
Mia, the Maltese-mix who had such a difficult time and who almost died has been adopted. Her new furever parents were kissing her as they left our house and she was kissing them in return. Those are the moments that make all of our work worthwhile.
We are getting another Maltipoo today, and we will soon also be getting little Summer, Mia's daughter, because the Chihuahua foster mom is beginning to wean Summer and Summer's two foster Chihuahua siblings. I cannot say enough in praise of the Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego and that wonderful Chihuahua mom who accepted Summer as her own baby when Mia could not nurse Summer.
The REALLY BIG NEWS is that we are getting another Doodle foster. Bentley is a Labradoodle who was scheduled for euthanasia at the Agoura, California, shelter. From the cell phone pictures we have of him, he is a beautiful black or dark brown doodle. Apparently he has a great personality.
Bentley was pulled from the Agoura shelter by Doodle Rescue Collective and I will pick him up somewhere north of here at a point yet to be determined.
The Agoura shelter stated that he was not totally house trained. We will make that determination after we get him here. Often dogs who are kicked around from place to place have some difficulty with house training. There is no way that we would let a doodle die in a shelter if we could do anything about it. Apparently, Bentley has been kept outdoors for the last year. With the exception of some dogs like flock protectors (Anatolian Shepherds, Great Pyrenees, etc.) I hate the idea of keeping a dog outdoors all he time...
All of our floors are tile and we have a great big yard. I suspect that it will not take a long time before Bentley follows the lead of Holly and Sully and learns house training skills.
