Very curious what your doodles do when you vacuum. Allie, now at 6 months old, has more freedom to roam around the house. Today I was vacuuming and I was surprised to find that she was not scared of the vacuum but would follow me around. She kept looking at me and it looked like she was saying "o.k. when are you going to be finished with that?' I thought "I'm with you on that one". She would kind of side step the vacuum but did not seem scared of it at all. I realize I have not noticed it before because she used to be confined to one area of the house. What does your dood do?

Gavin is completely unaffected by the vacuum. Sometimes I have to move him. Now the dust mop, well that spells p-l-a-y-t-i-m-e! My old cat - I used to put the brush attachment on and vacuum him to cut down on the shed factor. When I pulled the vacuum out of the closet he would run over and lay on his back.

Sounds like Jane and I are alike when it comes to vacuuming. I have a fetish too. I vacuum daily...can you imagine that? And my Doodle doesn't even shed! Gracie could care less about the vacuums. The canister one I have to ask her to move so I can do where she is. Sometimes she will follow me around dropping her ball in front of the wand so I can push it away and she can chase it!!! The big carpet one she will let me get within about 4 inches of her nose before she gets up and leaves. She is not fond of the noise of the big vacuum and sometimes will get up and move to another room or go get a drink of water!

It depends on which machine I am using..she thinks the Swiffer vacuum is her play thing and loves to dance around it aa I use it; my powerhouse Hoover is a grand bother to her and she looks at me and barks as if I am so impossibly annoying; and my new Shark (for hardwood floors) evokes fear in the heart of the doodle--the most ironic thing is that it makes what I feel is the most pitiful noise, almost a comical sputtering sound, but Phoebe runs away from it as if it could suck her right up inside.

LOL, Joanne - your Spud story made me laugh out loud. Butt biter- what a wicked boy!

When Penny was small, she too would go crazy. Especially with the canister vac. Jumping around like a kangaroo, charging at it, then running away And would she BARK! Ay, ay ay.

Now? She's 5 years old. Just looks at the vac and gives a big yawn. :-)

My Mastiff I used to take to the car wash, and then run the coin sweeper on him. He LOVED the sweeper. What's up with Spud? Butt biter.
Wish I could make him like it...but there is no way.

My foster is an angel. Could care less. Spud goes CRAZY and that's just only if I am pulling it out of the closet. That goes for lawnmowers, weedeaters..... he is awful.
Last summer, when he was still at a bite stage, he bit me in the butt when I was checking the fluids in the mower.

I just let him outside to run the sweeper. Makes me mad--he makes the mess--I clean it up--he gives me a hard time.

I use 3 different types of sweepers. I have an electrolux type rechargeable broom that I use on all of my area rugs and throw rugs, then I use a swiffer sweeper (rechargeable type) on the wood floors, and then on the 2 rooms with carpet I use a regular vacuum. They see the big vacuum come out and they leave whatever room I'm in. With the Swiffer or the Electrolux they sit right where I'm trying to sweep. I think they think they are helping. Sophie is the most interested and follows me from rug to rug.
