Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

On Friday, my friend and I left for a 350 mile trip to Rhode Island to pick up my Labradoodle puppy. I was only back from Indiana two days before this trip. We figured we have been in nine states in less than one week. The 350 mile trip took over eleven hours due to the traffic...whew!

Anyway, I picked up our puppy on Saturday and what a cutie he turned out to be. If I can get my daughter to send me the pictures, I will be posting them soon. He was a joy on the ride home, no car sickness, no crying, just a joy. A very happy little boy puppy.

I worried all the way home about introducing him to Fudge, our 15 month old Labradoodle. Well, when Fudge came out she saw my friend and started barking and the new puppy was TERRIFIED. He cried, whined, growled and peed all over the floor. He was so frightened and hid. Fudge, on the other hand, surprised me with her gentleness. All I could think of was everyone else on Doodlekisses seemed to have an easy transition and my new puppy seemed like he was petrified. Luckily, my husband is very calm and kept saying it would be fine. By evening, I brought them both up in my bed and pretty soon, they were playing despite the fact that I was exhausted and explained to them many times that it was time for bed :) The only real problem is that we all fell asleep and despite all my preparation with the crate, I never crated him and we slept all night in my bed. This will change tonight, so it may be a long night.

By mid day today, the terrified puppy was leaping on Fudge and pulling toys out of her mouth and wrestling with her all over everywhere. Now, I need an off button. Pray for Fudge :)....she has met her match.

Anyway, Vernors (aka Vern) is home.

Awww, so where are the pictures? Oh I know, I could barely think let alone take pictures after I drove 1,000 miles round trip to pick up Starlit. It was several days until we all returned to something close to normal.
Not all of us have an easy transition :) It took Starlit many days to not be afraid. She is still afraid of the outdoors, cars, men, the neighbor kids................. You name it, we are trying to socialize with it all.

Enjoy your new puppy and congratulations. :)
