Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Well, we just got back from obedience class # 2 and Sable did really well! Her tough points were "come close" (the heel position) and not jumping on people when they approached. She did come, sit, down, stay all very well though! I was so proud of her. She did get a little stubborn on the "come" part and stayed in the sit position, refusing to move forward, Peg, the trainer said, "That's a little bit of the poodle in her coming out." So we tried a "gentle tugging" of the lead as opposed to a constant pull, and it seemed to do the trick, no pun intended! I took my 10 year old daughter Brittany with me tonight to the class, she loved it! She adores dogs. Her favorite was a Collie, whose coat was soft as silk! Unfortunately for Brittany, she was very timid around kids... Oh well, I plan to bring her for the remaining classes, she loved it.

Well, DH said "NO MORE DOGS" So I will have to put my ODD on a shelf and revel in the fur babies I got! Which, come to think about it, is quite a lot, Praise God! However.....mark my words, one day......I WILL have a mini or medium RED DOODLE, golden-- or labra--, don't care, as long as he's got curls or waves of the most beautiful luscious RED!

Glad to hear Sable is doing great with obedience classes and Brittany enjoyed going with you to them. Christmas is coming and that will give you some time to let DH know what you want ....Redheaded Doodles make great xmas gifts...lol.

Sounds like Sable is doing great. Not jumping when they see new people is tough for Guinness too. He gets so excited, it's hard for him to sit and wait. His whole "butt" is moving, even though he's in a sit position. It might not be a bad thing for Sable to be an "only puppy" for a little while. It will give you a chance to do lots of training (and cuddling) before getting your next "redhead". But I do understand that doodles are addictive, and if one is good, two is even better!

Your ODD can wait awhile. These things take time with the DH. You just work on him slowly over time.
