My Quincy doodle sleeps on the hardwood floor at the foot of my bed. He occassionally gets on the bed but rarely stays for more than a few minutes. He has his own comfy bed in my room but he rarely sleeps on it. The thing is I feel bad that he sleeps on a hard floor and worry that it might hurt his joints. I guess I am comparing how I would feel if I slept on a floor. I think maybe he just likes the coolness of the floor. Am I being silly? Tonight I put a quilt on the floor for him so we'll see how that goes. He is a bit of a chewer but doesn't bother things at night when we are asleep.

Guinness likes his dog beds. I have a bed in just about every room, and during the day Guinness will sleep in the bed in whatever room I'm in. At night he's in my bed for cuddle time, and then he gets down and sleeps in his bed right next to my side of the bed. He seems to like soft, fluffy beds. If we're not home he sleeps on the stairs where he can see out and watch for us to come home.

Our girls sleep in their room. Sophie usually on a doggie bed or underneath the daybed. Lucy usually sleeps on the wood floor. She likes to sleep near the doorway. I put a rug dog in that area because when I come home and they get excited the floor was slippery to their feet and they where trying to jump up on the doggie gate to greet me. Every morning when I get up the rug is doubled over so that Lucy can lay by the door, but not on the rug. Like most of you, I think they like the coolness of the floor. During the day they are usually on the sofa's in the L.R. but if given the opportunity, Lucy loves laying on our bed. We just have a queen bed, so there isn't room for both of them and both of us. We have tried letting them sleep in the B.R., but them seem to prefer their room with all their things. Sophie will settle down and sleep on the floor, but Lucy is up and down and up and down, and the concept of landing somewhere other than the middle of my chest is foreign to her. So, sleeping in their own room works for everyone.

This is so funny, as I was just thinking of this tonight. Tori sleeps in her crate. I can't fully trust her w/o eating or chewing something she shouldn't. tonight we put her in her crate and shut the door.... a few minutes later she came trotting upstairs happy as a pig.... we forgot we had the side door open today to wash it down and never closed it. She remembered and trotting up. I felt bad that I had to put her back, but.. one night over one weekend we tried leaving her loose, but she didn't seem to get comfortable and went from my son's bed, to the floor, to the pillow for her on the floor, to who knows where. The next day she slept an awful lot... don't think she was too comfortable, so it was back to her crate... maybe we'll try in the summer again.

Our three dogs sleep wherever they want. Simon doesn't get up on the bed to sleep, Gordie always starts at my feet and may or may not stay. Ned moves several times during the night - crate, floor with his shoulder on a pillow, doggie bed (if free from Simon), somewhere on the foot of our bed, entry tile, bottom step. He believes variety is the spice of life.

Charlie and Teddi seem to prefer their kennels in the kitchen, some nights each in their own, some nights cuddled together in one, and if they are not in their kennels, they are in our room at the side of the bed. They have run of the house. Some nights I wake to a paw on the bedroom door as they've decided to join the bedroom slumberland after lights out. I never complain, I just welcome them in and go back to sleep.

Gaston-Cramer sleeps in bed with our son until he falls asleep for the night and then will come down to us and stretches out right between my husband and I in our bed and is out for the count! Good thing we have a king sized bed! Our daughter is hoping that when Rose comes to live with us that she'll share her bed! (we do too as there's no more room in ours! LOL)

Gus and Lilly pretty much sleep where ever they want. Gus will change locations several times during the night. Lilly pretty much has taken to starting out on the bed between us and then on the floor on my side.

Gracie Doodle has entire run of the house. During the day she is up on our bed a lot (under a constantly going ceiling fan). She is always hot so she also spends time on the entry hall limestone or in the kitchen on the hardwood floor. She will also sleep beside me in the den on the carpet when I am on the computer. She just sort of goes all over the house. We beg her to come to bed with us. I love sleeping with her in my arms (she is a huge 70 lb Standard). Usually once we turn out the light she leaves us and sometimes comes back around 5 AM. I think she gets too hot on a down comforter and two hot bodies warming her up. We even sleep with all our bedroom windows open to make the room cold for her. Last night she did sleep with us all night and she cuddled with me three times during the night. I loved it!!!
