Who needs bully sticks, when there are rubber balls?

I took my daughter to PetCo to buy the doodles some new rubber balls.  They really love the Chuk-it orange fuzz-less 'tennis' balls that last forever -- truly!  The only reason we were out of them is because they miraculously disappear after a while. 

 

Well needless to say the doods have been in heaven since late last week.  I knew they'd be excited, but that's ALL they do when they get outside: Rosco lays down and chews his ball like a giant wad of gum and Boca (if she's not dropping the ball at your feet 100 x in a row for fetch) will just play with it on her own.  They're now officially re-obsessed! 

 

But what's more fun than a game of ball all by yourself?  A game of capture the ball inside the Holee Roller!   You can squeeze a tennis sized ball like this through the larger holes in the largest sized Holee Roller and it will keep a dog like Boca occupied for hours:

ADINA!!! You are my current Hero!!!
I picked up the holee roller yesterday, stuffed Mollys chuckit ball inside the minute I got home. It took her a few seconds to realize I was no longer holding her chuckit ball and that it was actually inside the holee roller, but as soon as she saw it....helllooooo 2 hours of free time for me!!! Ha! DH was very impressed. We also were beyond happy that our evening wasn't spent collecting balls out from under the couch!!

An intended 'side effect' of this darn Chuk it ball is that Boca has discovered ANOTHER game on her own: Rolling it in one spot until she's created a dirt clod out of grass...and dropping it there and digging it out with her mouth until a deep hole is formed.  She's not even digging with her paws...  NOT a good game I keep telling her.  And I can always tell because the ball she drops as she enters the house is nearly black instead of orange.

Looks like Boca just made the Holee Roller company some sales!  Maybe I should write to them and suggest her as a spokesdog =)

Luca is so obsessed with those orange balls that I periodically have to confiscate the current one for sanity. Oh I miss the doodles!

Well of course Adina, I had to run right out and get this stuff to see if Rooney would enjoy it.  I swear at times he just looks bored.  So we go to PetCo and get the stuff - come home and I pop the ball inside.  I throw it on the floor and Rooney runs up to it but stop about 2 ft away.  He looks at it, looks at me, looks at.  I can see him thinking WTD is it?  Now he gets closer but is pacing around it and doesn't touch it, finally leans in for a sniff.  This goes on for a while and I'm just watching, laughing.  Great amusement for me!  He then takes a paw ever so slow and careful and takes a little swip - well of course the thing went rolling, so then he sticks his nose through the Holee Roller and then it was game on.  He loves it!!!  Thanks so much for this suggestion!!!
