Who needs bully sticks, when there are rubber balls?

I took my daughter to PetCo to buy the doodles some new rubber balls.  They really love the Chuk-it orange fuzz-less 'tennis' balls that last forever -- truly!  The only reason we were out of them is because they miraculously disappear after a while. 

 

Well needless to say the doods have been in heaven since late last week.  I knew they'd be excited, but that's ALL they do when they get outside: Rosco lays down and chews his ball like a giant wad of gum and Boca (if she's not dropping the ball at your feet 100 x in a row for fetch) will just play with it on her own.  They're now officially re-obsessed! 

 

But what's more fun than a game of ball all by yourself?  A game of capture the ball inside the Holee Roller!   You can squeeze a tennis sized ball like this through the larger holes in the largest sized Holee Roller and it will keep a dog like Boca occupied for hours:

That's ALL Rosco wants to do with it: chew.  Boca prefers to fetch, but will settle for playing soccer on on her own with it and then finally chewing it.  But something about this ball makes Rosco JUST want to do 'gum' like chewing with it.  He doesn't really seem to want to tear it apart like other toys.

I bought a couple of these but don't give them to Quincy to just chew on. I have not met a ball yet that he can't chew up. The only thing he hasn't destroyed is his kong and that's probably because he never looks at it unless there is something good inside.

Adina, that's a great idea!  Trav's ball like that has disappeared too, but I'll get one or three next time I go to PetCo.  The Holee Roller is a great toy too, and I've put a variety of stuffed toys inside it, but never thought of trying a ball.

Clancy is smarter than Boca then! She COULD totally chew through but rubber isn't as exciting as crunchy teareable material :)

Been there, done that and Clancy just chews a hole in the Holey Roller to get the inside ball out! However I am going to go try those orange balls out.

Sometimes it's the simplest things that keep them amused for hours.  I never even thought of putting the tennis ball inside the Roller...great idea!
