Who owes me money?

I love my dogs, I love my dogs, I love my dogs. I really do, but today I need to remind myself!

I have worn glasses since I was 9. I am BLIND without them. They are the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off at night. They go on the shelf right above my bed. Early this morning my mom called and said she was dropping off muffins (YUM!) and could I meet her at the fence? I got up, put my slippers on and left my glasses. I was thinking I'd be right back and was going to lay down for a few more minutes until it was time to get the kids up, which is exactly what I did. When I got up a bit later my glasses weren't where they always are. UGH! I know the dogs didn't take them while I was in bed, so it must have been when I went to get the muffins. I checked the bathroom thinking maybe I left them there the night before. Then, I checked the family room. Maybe I took them off when I was falling asleep watching Brothers and Sisters? Nope, not there... So, I got the kids up and had them help. (Remember I'm pretty much blind, so me looking for them is useless.) About 15 minutes into the search Alyssa found this in the front yard.

Aparently the dogs thought it was time for me to get new glasses. It has been two years. I considered driving myself to the eye Dr., but realized that it's illegal and besides, I CAN'T see! So, I called my dad and asked him to take me. When I arrived I was reminded by an employee that the LAST time I got new glasses the dogs had eaten them. She then condescendingly asked me if I kept them in a safe place. I was going to explain but then realized, what business is it of hers?? Besides, how does she remember that?! It was two years ago! I hardly remembered it! (I try not to hold grudges.)

When all was said and done, WITH insurance, I paid $317. Not exactly cheap but I had to get them today! Now the question is, which dog owes me the money? If Rose still lived here she would have been blamed. (Sorry Rose!) But since she is North Carolina I can hardly charge her...

Kennedy (Rose's mom) is my #1 suspect. She is the one that ate the glasses two years ago. She is typically very good now so I'd be kind of surprised....but then again, she does have a record.

Lizzy is suspect #2. She is very sweet and loving and perfect in almost every way, BUT she does sleep on the bed with me, so that means she was in the bed at the time the glasses disappeared.

Suspect # 3 - Rosaleena is very sweet as well, but DOES like to steal things and take them out the doggie door. She typically sleeps under the bed, so was in the vicinity at the time the glasses disappeared.

Gracie and Chloe are the only ones that have an alibi. They slept with Alyssa last night and her door was closed. Besides they are the least likely to steal and destroy...

I'm not sure who to be mad at...So I guess I need to get over it. I'll just add it to the ever growing list of things I've had to replace over the years. *Sigh*

April...I just came across this little story and I can't stop laughing. U should be a writer! I caught Bentley running with my glasses just last week he didn't have them for long but he chewed the end of the arm a little so it's jagged and kills my ear. Time for a new pair for me!!! Thanks for making me laugh!!!

April, this is too funny. You know what my dogs would have done....they would have knocked your glasses off the shelf, then waited for your mom to bring "their" muffins. When those warm muffins were placed on your countertop as you went to get your glasses but for some reason it took you a little longer to find them.....you would come back to "clearly" see the empty muffin tin sitting on their bed and a bunch of guilty but full of muffin doggies!

April, I thought of this post today, because Fudge and Vern were out in the back yard today and Vern came in covered in mud and immediately jumped on my sofa. Next, Fudge came in with no collar. After getting everyone cleaned up and my sofa restored to order, I went to the backyard and there next to a huge hole was Fudge's collar. I just kept thinking all the evidence at first pointed to Vern, but I could not ignore the collar right next to the hole. Neither one would fess up or rat on the other :) I look forward to bedtime just like I did when my kids were little!

They stole the glasses the day before they made the mess, lol! Clearly, getting away with the glasses caper has really inspired them to bigger and badder things!

Well I feel your pain, Ollie ate my brand new glasses too....I had them for 3 days and came in the bedroom, and all that was left was a piece of the frame...Ugh, the credit card I charged them on paid for new ones, but the eye Dr. told me that that dogs chewing and eating glasses is the number one cause of destruction of same. Maybe if they could talk it wiuld be like the kids, your extra child named not me, or I don't know is the culprit....

Rose said to tell you that she accepts your apology but to tell you that if Rosaleena is opening up an "optical" department, it is without her knowledge and it had nothing to do with the training she gave her prior to moving here and she absolves herself from any and all responsibilities resulting from any actions she might have taken as a result of said shop. If found guilty, Rose wants to make it clear that Rosaleena was acting on her own and without her blessing or approval. Oh and she said to tell you she loves you too but that in order to truly be forgiven a muffin would help! :)
