Hey, guys, it's November, my favorite month of the year! Let me tell you why!

I was not having the best summer to begin with.  First, my mom signed me up for some kind of crazy classes where I had to keep walking around a big room in circles making turns for no reason, and stand still while a strange lady threw things on the floor or looked at my teeth and my feet. It made no sense, but I guess I did a good job, because my mom got a paper saying that I am a good citizen (like she didn't already know that!) and she was very happy.

And then, my mom started taking pictures of me for a calendar! I kept having to sit still in front of flowers and look at her while she took pictures! This also made no sense, because my mom did not seem to be having a good time and she would get mad later when she looked at the pictures on the computer, but she kept making me do it.

And between the classes and the pictures, I had to get brushed all the time! Just to do things I didn't want to do in the first place! I was NOT a good sport about it:

And if all that wasn't bad enough, then came the worst part of every year; the ragweed season! It was really, really bad this year! I felt just awful! I was itching so bad, I had to get a bath every week and a shot every week, and extra pills, and for the first time in three years, I had to take medicine that made me tired and thirsty. We didn't get to enjoy the nice fall weather in September and October, and my mom was very sad. Me, too.

(October is a terrible month anyway, because of Halloween, when the humans try to humiliate us by dressing us up like fools and then posting pictures so everyone can laugh at us, and there are scary things in people's yards, and then even scarier humans with masks on keep ringing the doorbell and getting treats that you can't have. I hope you all survived it okay!)

BUT- this year, something else happened that made me really mad!

My mom got all excited about a package that came in the mail. I thought it might be something for me, but it was for my mom. And you know what it was? Magnets with pictures of Fudge and Vern on them!

Now, I like Fudge and Vern, and I feel really sorry for them because their mom really likes to make fools of them all the time by dressing them up like bugs and fruit and things for all the Doodle Kissers to laugh about.

But for years, I have had to look at pictures of other doodles on the wall in the kitchen and the office where my mom keeps her calenders, and now there are pictures of other doodles on MY refrigerator, and none of me! LOOK!

I ask you, is this fair??????

But now it's November, and things are MUCH better! For one thing, the ragweed is gone and I'm not so uncomfortable, and I don't have to get a bath every week any more! And I only have to have a shot every other week now, and I don't have to take extra pills anymore either!

And guess what? I am finally going to be in a calendar! My mom sent Adina some pictures of me, and two were chosen for the Lotsa Doodles calendar, so pretty soon, MY picture is going to be hanging on the wall in the kitchen and the office!!!

And my birthday is in November! I always get the best dinner for my birthday, and my mom plays ball with me for a real long time, and we usually go somewhere special, too!

Also, there's a holiday in November called Thanksgiving, and it's really a special day. They cook really good food, and I always get some turkey, (yum!), and there are no silly costumes! It's just a happy day where you relax and eat and give thanks for all of your blessings.

This year, when Mom and I give thanks for our blessings, we will be including all of our good friends here on DK.

And that's why I LOVE NOVEMBER!

Love,

Jackdoodle

Thanks, Daisy!  It took my mom 4 years to send in my picture! Your mom will do it eventually!

Oh Jack we are so happy for you....first I "get" the Sept/Oct misery, my Mom is allergic too and has had all of the same things as you except the shots. Second we also love November because the ragweed is gone, the nights are chilly and good for sleeping and so far this year we have had wonderful "park" weather and Mom takes me there on her lunch hour to run. But the best thing that happened so far is all my DK friends are in the calendar, Mom says you look especially handsome. Hmmmm, wonder why my Mom didn't send pictures of me, maybe it's because I have the head turn down as well as the head tilt and she can never get a good picture. haha

Congratulations.

Winston, I am so sorry you are so itchy! I will ask my mom to help your mom figure out how to help you feel better!

My first family rejected me, too, and left me in a shelter. I was scared and sad, too, when I first came to my new home, but now I feel really lucky and I bet you do too!

I hope you feel better soon! Hugs from me and my mom!

Hi Jack, Winston here. I'm glad you are enjoying your November. It sounds so much more promising than the last few months. I had a really crazy fall too. Ever since I went to stay with my new mom things have been really different. I have a little sister to play with all the time and I get to sleep in my new mom's room and i don't have to hang out outside all day like before! I was sad at first about being rejected, but now I'm starting to feel better about it since my new mom loves me so much. I even got a new bed from Auntie Laurie, Fudge and Vern, but no magnets. But now that I think about it, I'm giong to have to nudge mom into putting my photo up on the fridge!

I know what you mean about all that itching. I am so itchy all the time. My paws, my chin, my leg-pits and even, ahem, my butt! how embarrassing. Sometimes it's so crazy that my skin gets all red but I just can't stop. I can tell my mom gets upset about it but I can't help it. Mom says that ragweed season has been over for a while so there's not chance that my allergies are seasonal. Even all those little pills she gives me doesn't help much. She said if it doesn't clear up soon the vet wants her to start experimenting with my food *gulp* ... I really hope I can still get to have treats.

Anyway, I'm really glad you are feeling better and I hope you get lots of turkey for thanks giving!

Your pal,

Winston

Thanks, Nancy! We love you and your crew, too!

I am going to tell my human sister about the magnets and maybe she will get one for mom as a gift!

I'm so glad so many of my friends are in that calendar with me!

We love you Jack.  PS tell mom she can get a magnet of YOU with your pictures from shutterfly.com.  My mom just got some of our two-legged niece for Christmas presents - like almost naked babies are cute - cheeeesh!  Congrats on the calendar pics.  We will enjoy November with you cuz my mom bought that calendar for herself and one for our groomer.

Thanks, Jake! I'm glad your itchies are gone too! My mom says your mom is a "doodle angel"; I don't know what that is, but i think it means we are both very lucky doods!

Hi Jack Doodle

My mom signed me up for that same crazy class in the beginning of the summer too.  I even passed it........after my 2nd try.   They wouldn't pass me the first time because I gave the "friendly stranger" love bites when she touched my paw.  (It's because I knew the "friendly stranger".....I wouldn't do that to just anyone!)   My mom has been working with me on that for a long time but I can't help it sometimes :>)  I am glad your "itchies" are gone and guess what so are mine!  And, how cool is that to have your birthday and yummy turkey all in one month.......... and something to look forward to in the new year with your calendar pictures!  You are one lucky and blessed doodle!!!
