Way to go...you're more than halfway there...
We're praying for you...and a complete recovery!
What a wonderful DoodleNurse Achilles is turning out to be!! Hoping the next 2 days go quickly for you!! You're doing great job and we all continue to send our prayers and blessings your way!
Three days down and two to go!! Achilles is right there the minute I get home and does not leave my side.
Thank you everyone for all your positive thoughts it is helping a great deal!
Definately ask the hospital, but be prepared for not allowing the dogs on the oncology floor. When your counts (WBC) are low you are at high risk of infection and anything unclean can produce infection (even our beloved dogs). My daughter was treated for leukemia and when her counts were low, I was anxious about any potential threat. I would have been uneasy seeing other peoples dogs in the hall.
Since it was a pediatric oncology floor, there were dogs that were hospital employees that could visit the kids who were not high risk but were still limited in where their handlers could take them.
Most hospitals have a garden/walk area where your family could meet you with Achilles.
Good luck with this journey. Keep us posted.
Some hospitals do allow dogs to go in if they are hypoallergenic like our doodles are. I am not sure if it is different because it is a germ factor for people on Chemo but I certainly would ask. You never know until you ask right? My dog has been able to come to the hospital to see me, I unfortunately have to go in the hospital a lot and knowing I can see him helps. If not, he will be waiting for you to hug and kiss you and take a nap with you when you get home.
I will pray for you that you do not get any yucky side effects of the chemo, just the good results you want!!!
