Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Today DH and I were out walking Oliver, when my neighbor down the street comes driving by, blowing her horn.  She is just about bursting to taslk to us.  Well she got a Doodle the other day, or should I say a Doodle got her and her husband.  They are just wonderful doggie parents.  They lost their beloved dog several months ago, and they love our Oliver...Of course their dog was better trained then our Oliver, lol, but they adored Oliver, and her husband even offered to train Oliver...Anyway, they decided they wanted to adopt a Doodle, so I told them to come to Doodle Kisses and look at some of the the dogs that are up for adoption on our page.  She did, they contacted Doodle Rescue, filled out an application, and waited and waited.  She told me that their were no doodles for rescue in Florida, I said I know that is impossible, and I told her to get in touch with our Adrienne, and see what she could do.  Well she did, and two days ago they got a call about a labradoodle that was in Englewood Fl. about 3 hrs from here in a shelter.  They got in the car, went to see her, and at first they were going to foster and see how it goes. Now mind you, we were away, so we knew nothing about this.  We came home way early from vacation, that is how we heard the good news.  Well it seems that "Remmi", has adopted them, lol, they are head over heels in love with this sweet 3 year old girl, and they spoke with Adrienne to tell her that they are not fostering this lovely doodle, they are adopting her!!!...They are just so thrilled with this doodle, they took her to the vet, and he said she was just fine, with a problem that will be handled at a later date, not serious.  It seems that this dog was with a family that could no longer care for her, financially I believe, and she had been at this shelter for a month or so. She knows all her commands, and she is housebroken.  They are on top of the world, and I think they now know what it means to adopted by a doodle.  She is just sooooo sweet, she and Ollie were playing, and it was just so cute...I am just thrilled that this wonderful dog has found such great parents...They are just wonderful people, kind and loving, and very good pet people...I am sure that I will see Remmi with the husband going around the neighborhood on his golf cart.  And the most amazing thing is, they were supposed to watch Oliver for us while we were away, but because they couldn't take care of Ollie & Renny, and I was afraid that Rennie would be miserable without Oliver, I had my regular dog sitter watch them, and lo and behold, they were able to make the trip to get Remmi!!!!..Funny how things work out...Remmi is a cream color, and needs to let her hair grow in a bit, but what a sweetie...We are delighted to have her here on the block!!!...Her new Mommy will be on DoodleKisses very soon.  She was on Science Diet, so she is now going to join the food group and have Karen help her with new dog food for her.  I am so sorry this is so long, but I am so excited....Cheryl

we were in a hotel and just got home and getting the house and property cleaned up which is why I am just reading this now.

I knew you were out of town and I didn't want to ruin the surprise!!

When it's right, it finds you!! I am so thrilled that D was available, willing and ready to go and get Remi out of the shelter! There are so few fosters in Florida that it took some time but Remi was in no danger of being euthanized! She was a favorite of everyone in the shelter and they took time out to love her and play with her. Granted, it is no place for any dog but if she had to be in one, that is one of the very few good ones!!

I am thrilled that Remi & D are neighbors of yours. Remi needs doodle friends to play with!

I know that they just love her!! It didn't take long for them to become part of the Doodle Rescue Group "Foster Failures" - WOL!! I was told by the shelter manager that there wasn't a person that Remi met that didn't love her!

What excellent news!!! Sounds like Remmi is lucky to have found good forever parents.  And they are doubly as lucky :)
