Zoe is so cute. I am sorry she had to be shaved. 9-12 months seems to be a crucial time as they are going through the coat change. Doodles are a commitment as they do require lots of grooming. Hang in there, it gets easier. Be sure to check out the groups section there is a ton of very informative info on here from experienced individuals.
I checked your page to see where you live and to see any photos of Zoe. Cincinnati - you can probably just say it is a summer cut and leave it at that. It will be cooler for her. But, if you don't want her shaved in the future, follow some basic rules when selecting your groomer. Tell them exactly what you want and take photos with you. Do more brushing and prep before you take her in to be groomed. Or, if you have the time and inclination, take on the task of grooming yourself. We have done our own grooming for 30 years and love it, but we have the time and inclination and have had plenty of poodles and doodles.
BTW, welcome to DoodleKisses - a great website for doodle lovers everywhere.
