Congrats on your new little Waffle! He's adorable! Brady is 12 weeks - we have had him for four weeks. I gave him a very s l o w introduction to his crate (which I use when I can't be right 'on' him or I have to go out.
He slept with me (in my bed) the very first night - he slept all night peacefully - I did not! Night 2 I put him in his soft bed on floor beside mine....he slept all night - I did too! Since then, he has remained sleeping in his own bed. For crating - I first lured him into it with a treat and left the door open. Next day - filled a puppy konk with peanut butter, put it in freezer then lured him in with that which would keep him 'busy' for a while....I closed the door for about 15 min. (I never want to open the door if he's crying). The crate sits in our front hall/dining room which gives him a good view of the main floor which put him where the 'action' (people) are. It remains there, door open during the day and 2 weeks later, I often find him wandering in to have a little nap. It's a good feeling to know they are safe and happy. You might try bringing the crate to a more central area and treat it quite casually during the day. (ie - not really bringing any attention to it or whether he goes in or out - like it's expected). Could you then take it up to your room at night or if this works well, get another crate for sleeping at n
ight and leave it in your room? Enjoy you pup - Brady has stolen my heart....completely in doodle love!!!!
I bought from a breeder local to where I live. Beaumonde. I really like their dogs. We are getting our second pup from there, too.
I'm sure you are going to get lots of great advice from this site. I read a ton of books and was completely obsessed. Wait, was? No, I AM still obsessed. Oh, well!
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help...but there are soo many more experienced folks than me... :-)
