Thanks for asking. Megan had surgery on the 10th of January - she had a complete tear and is still recovering.  It is hard to know how well she is doing.  Sometimes she puts the foot down totally but…

Thanks for asking. Megan had surgery on the 10th of January - she had a complete tear and is still recovering.  It is hard to know how well she is doing.  Sometimes she puts the foot down totally but limps - keeping her quiet is a chore.  Thankfully she has readjusted to her crate really well but there have bee OOPs moments when we turn our backs and she does something dumb.  She knows something is  wrong and is doing her doggy best.

Hi Sally, It is really great to hear that Megan's surgery is behind her (and you!)....I hope her recovery is complete and that every day finds her doing better. I wish they could talk to us so we really know!

I was wondering how Megan is.  Did she have a torn CCL? Did you have the surgery?  Our Springer has torn both and had two surgeries.  He is still recovering from the second one.

I would definitely get more information before deciding on surgery.  I know you want the best for your girl, but surgery may not be called for.  Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hello Sally, not very good on this blogging stuff but got an email with your question about Megan's leg. I had a similar experience when mine (Lulu) was 6 months old... She started limping out of nowhere and a vet told me the same thing! Wanted to medicate her on valium to keep her off her feet which I thought was insane. I went for another opinion... Turned out to be a condition called Panosteitis which is basically growing pains similar to what teenagers go thru. I have heard it can hit anytime for a number of years. Either way, that is a pretty quick diagnosis and I highly recommend getting another opinion from a board certified dog orthopedist. A lot of times these twists resolve themselves with a little rest. You can also give Megan baby aspirin if she is in pain. If that doesn't help much then you will at least know that it is more serious. Hope this info helps a little and that Megan is up and around real soon!! Sylvie
