It has just been in the last year that our Sophie mastered stairs completely, and she is 4.  We never even realized she wouldn't do them because we didn't have any.  Then one time we took her to the County fair and went up into the grandstands to sit.  She did fine going up it was the coming down part that she wouldn't do.  DH ended up carrying her.  After that we attempted the stairs at several places.  Going up ok, coming down, not so much.  This past January we rented a condo in FL and when the Man sent me the instructions with the keys it said that the dogs were not allowed in the elevators, that we had to use the stairs.  We were on the 3rd floor.  It was like oh no, this is going to be a long week.  However, she did fine.  But I think having stairs like yours when she was a puppy would have prevented this problem.  Little Ben will get it figured out.
