Bryce, it is a Scout Song that I edited to keep repeating the same verse.  It is actually titled "I wish I were a little bar of soap".  You should be able to google it.

I was told the same thing, Girls are not allowed to take shop.  Amen, to Thank Goodness.

F, your HS sounds like a dream come true.  Maybe my mind wouldn't have as many "If only" moments.

Joanne, maybe FJ will build you a worm probe.  I have no idea what it was called but that sounded good, lol.

Thank goodness indeed. In NYC there were 3 science related HSs. 2  of the  3 were for boys only--bah humbug. I think they all became coed years ago.

Makes sense now.  I was NOT permitted to take wood shop.  I asked. I even did a little protest with my school counselor.  Discussed this with my mother.  I LOST.  No Girls permitted in shop.  Thank goodness times have changed.

We had to do a project for "Science Techniques" lab. It seemed like a relatively easy one involving a block of wood , which had to be sawn and sanded. Then you made a little coil of wire with metal handles attached to a battery as I recall. When you held the handles you got a shock by completing the circuit. It worked intermittently at best and it wasn't much of a shock. The rest is history, I passed the course. I had much more trouble in some other course we had where you had to draw up plans. I went to a science H.S. so we had a lot of that sort of thing.

And F. Parker.  There is a joke here with that shocker. But I am sure, at the time, this was not your intent.   Why would you make one?  Studying currents in shop?
